It is well known that the National Council of Catholic Bishops absolutely loathes EWTN founder Mother Angelica as much for her defiance as for her traditional Catholic beliefs.
IIRC, the NCCB threatened to confiscate MA’s network studios, invoking her vows of poverty, chastity & obedience. But this schoolkid’s worst nightmare of a tough old nun replied “I’ll burn the d@mn thing down first!”
So, EWTN reporters just might feel the teensiest bit unwelcome at the Obama-bishops’ confab. Like FoxNews in the White House.....
She has done more for the Church in North America than any bishop I can think of.
If she had not stood firm on EWTN to the USCCB, then we would see EWTN being used to raise funds for the Campaign for Human Development.
The NCCB ceased to exist in 2001 when the NCCB and the USCC merged to become the USCCB. Mother Angelica has many Bishops amongst her and EWTNs staunchest defenders.
