LOL
I’m guessing psalm 91 takes care of the falling down part. I don’t think it says anything about backaches though ...

Another "proof" statement from the house of OPC? Ford was a fanatical RC who was always pushing Wayne to join the papacy. --> Pope Wayne, eh? Do the little green men also talk about chinese fireworks?

Bkaycee: What Sola scriptura is not.
First of all, it is not a claim that the Bible contains all knowledge. The Bible is not exhaustive in every detail. John 21:25 speaks to the fact that there are many things that Jesus said and did that are not recorded in John, or in fact in any book in the world because the whole books of the world could not contain it. But the Bible does not have to be exhaustive to function as the sole rule of faith for the Church.
Do the rest of the sola scriptura adherents agree to this? I'm sorry to put you on the spot, bkay, but I have never heard an SS persoan state this

Bkaycee:
What Sola scriptura is not.
Secondly, it is not a denial of the Church's authority to teach God's truth. I Timothy 3:15 describes the Church as "the pillar and foundation of the truth." The truth is in Jesus Christ and in His Word. The Church teaches truth and calls men to Christ and, in so doing, functions as the pillar and foundation thereof. The Church does not add revelation or rule over Scripture. The Church being the bride of Christ, listens to the Word of Christ, which is found in God-breathed Scripture.
Thirdly, it is not a denial that God's Word has been spoken. Apostolic preaching was authoritative in and of itself. Yet, the Apostles proved their message from Scripture, as we see in Acts 17:2, and 18:28, and John commended those in Ephesus for testing those who claimed to be Apostles, Revelation 2:2. The Apostles were not afraid to demonstrate the consistency between their teaching and the Old Testament.
Do the rest of the sola scriptura adherents agree to this? I'm sorry to put you on the spot, bkay, but I have never heard an SS persoan state this

“Can you imagine their pope washing someone’s feet???” —> yes, now Iscool, this is just one of many things that you perhaps may believe the Church teaches or does or does not do, but is wrong.

The Christian Church looks at the Scriptures as the only and sufficient rule of faith and the Church is always subject to the Word, and is constantly reformed thereby. What does the third phrase of this sentence mean?

I think it is consistent with the Sola Scriptura Articles of Religion of the Church of England. Didn't work out too well for them ...
But it is good to be reminded of what SS really is.

I wrote: “Can we ever understand how much He loved his mother?”
You responded: “I imagine He loved his Mother about how I loved my Mother...And you love(d) your Mother...”
Ah, but there’s a difference here: You and I did not create our own mother.
I’m sure you understand the significance of this fact.

With me he is preaching to a skeptic who is aware that every single word he says must be parsed in order to find the truth.
So parse away. Explain both the alleged errors you, in your wisdom and inspired scholarship find, and explain why your belief is superior to both that of the Church and the other parts of Christendom who agree with the Church on that "error" you allege. Go ahead. Don't mind me, I am the one in the corner holding my sides laughing.

He ritually does . . . I think once a year. The finery and pomp and circumstance involved is incredible. As are the already clean feet. LOL.
It would be far more impressive if they went out into the streets and washed some dirty homeless feet and gave them new socks and shoes.

IF you’ll look at this verse that you are very familiar with, closely, you’ll see that ‘traditions which you have been taught’ ARE the written epistles...The oral traditions ARE scripture...
Unless of course, you switch the or to an and...Which you guys do...
