It seems that if a woman murders her children and says she's really sorry, instead of getting the death penalty she gets 20 yrs in prison. So if a religious leader says he's really sorry about past crimes we should say no problem.
I'm not of this school of thought.
I just want to see that everything that can be done is being done to see that it never happens again and those that were involved go to prison and never see the light of day again.

I still hold out hope there are conservative Roman Catholics who do not buy into this idiotic deflection and can truly understand where this satanic sexual activity is coming from -- the protected class of men who have been told they are "another Christ" by a church which believes everyone else is "defective."
But then once that truth finally occurs to someone, they usually find the exit and end up in a more Biblically-faithful Protestant church which protects its children.

"alter Christus" does not mean "another Christ."
The Latin phrase for "another Christ" is "alius Christus" not "alter Christus."
The medieval Latin word "alter" means "likeness." The job of a priest (like that of all Christians) is to emulate Christ. More specifically for priests, to offer the Mass like Christ offered the Last Supper.
In 1 Corinthians 11:1 St. Paul specifically calls himself such an emulator of Christ.

Teachers
Coaches
Protestant ministers
Priests are way down on the list.
So if a father is a teacher of mid-high history, coaches the girl’s basketball team and is a youth minister at his church on weekends/Sundays — watch out! He would be much more prone to pedophilia that any priest.
