I'm sorry to tell you that some very shocking, saddening news about a prominent figure in the Church will soon become publically known, perhaps as early as Monday or Tuesday.
Don't worry. This is not about the Holy Father, nor any previous pope, nor does it have to do with a lay person.
So, let's start praying earnestly that God will bring some kind of good from this and, of course, let's offer prayers for those involved.

You know I have a problem with this post because it’s not transparent, “bad news,prominent person”........that’s equivalent to gossip :(
Yes, I imagine it could be, but it could also be an urgent request for needed prayer, apparently this is serious, and also a way to reduce any bad shock that might ensue.
Also, Patrick stated on his sight concerning this post:

if this is such private news why air dirty laundry at FR?
for what purpose? to pray? that doesn’t jive in my book.
and if it’s sooooooo secret perhaps it shouldn’t be
discussed at all. there are things that are better
left unsaid and unread.
When you power up & connect with the inet do you read
everything and believe it? do you look at images that
might be disturbing simply because the material is published?
Do you exercise your soul’s right of freedom of choice?
Please quit and either participate or go to other threads, there are already enough mods here.
No i’m not the self appointed thread police and I am not consistantly first on threads questioning their validity and worth.
Obviously, i’ve touched a nerve somehow and my presence is an annoyance.

It’s certainly possible, but I guess we shouldn’t speculate until we know. The only thing that makes me think it might not be Mahony is that Patrick Madrid implies that it will be a surprise, and I don’t think anybody would be surprised about anything involving Cdl Mahony.

I have to admit that Cardinal Mahony jumped to mind immediately upon reading this.
He’s been all over the news here in Southern California this week.
This matter is not about Cardinal Mahony. Of course, we should always be praying for him and his brother bishops, but this particular issue does not pertain to him.

I guess I’m relieved, but I’m still counting the days until his retirement. It cannot come soon enough.

With all due respect to Mr. Madrid, I don’t see what point there is in posting this. If and when this person’s name and situation becomes public, that will be the time to pray about it and discuss it.
I would submit that speculation is sinful (and that the thread itself is unprofitable).
Pray, or don’t pray, but folks should refrain from idle speculation.
