Oh, I guess I passed up an opportunity to be as visible as possible regarding my faith. Perhaps I’ll do it this way: I’ll take my family to lunch after church this Sunday, and go to the same cafe that all the other attendees frequent. I’ll be sure to speak really LOUDLY about Jesus; in fact, I’ll utter the name of Jesus at least twice in every sentence. I’ll make sure that my fellow parishoners know that I’m more saved than they’ll ever be! All throughout, I’ll run my waitress ragged, and then after two hours, leave her a bible tract instead of a tip because, after all, I’ve already given my money to God today.

Is this how you truly view Christianity?

If we’re going to post quotes, let’s go right to the source: The bible tells us that pi=3, yet we know that pi is an irrational number that is equal to 3.14 rounded to 2 decimal places. Could the bible be equally wrong (figurative, that is) regarding Genesis?

No. That’s how many people who practice Christianity competitively conduct themselves. I know many of them. To them, each utterance of the name “Jesus” brings them closer to salvation. It’s almost as though they calculate a “Jesus” density in their speech: Number of times “Jesus” is spoken divided by total number of words spoken. The higher the density, the more likely they are to be above the rapture cut-off line.

And I know far too many waitstaff who have been stiffed by churchgoers with a tract.

What a shame people are going to churches that say homosexuality is normal, that the way to salvation is by saying Jesus x number of times, and what a shame people think this is what Christianity is all about.

A Christ centered church is the way to go.

It sounds to me like you have a profound teaching opportunity there! Have you pursued any of these avenues open to you?
