I believe people are better off for having faith in their lives, and living the best way they know how. I don’t believe that the snippets you have taken represent the views of the Mormon Church or it’s members. Mormons consider themselves Christian, and would, therefore, not condem themselves. The last time I checked, pronouncements made by the President of the LDS Church did indeed represent its views.

I strongly encourage to check the references and see if I am misquoting the Prophets. If I am, I will gladly issue the appropriate retractions and apologies.

As per the above listed quotations, your early church leaders, including both Joseph Smith and Brigham Young, clearly disagree.
