Patriarch calls for preservation of Kosovo covenant 26 April 2008 | 18:13 | Source: B92, Beta BELGRADE -- On the eve of the greatest Christian holiday, His Holiness Patriarch Pavle's Easter message to the members of the Serbian Orthodox Church was read.

At the beginning of the Holy Week, the patriarch called on the faithful to fulfill their Kosovo covenant, "because Kosovo is not merely a question of Serb territory, but of the Serb spiritual being, because we were born, grew, lived and matured with Kosovo and Metohija as individuals, and as a nation. We have lived and died by the Kosovo covenant".

"In these days of Paschal joy, in this time of divine mercy toward all and everybody, we cannot but remember the human injustice and violence of the mighty of this world inflicted upon our Kosovo and Metohija, our Serbia and the entire Serbian nation," the message said.

"Having Kosovo and Metohija in our hearts and our unceasing care for our brothers and sisters and all those that suffer there, having a living Kosovo and Metohija within ourselves day and night, no one will take them away from us. The Homeland is the heart of man, says one poet. Within our hearts we have placed Kosovo and Metohija. We call upon all Orthodox Serbs to fulfill the Kosovo covenant in full, and that is the Holy Lazar’s testament," the Easter message continued.

"If we complete that covenant no one will take Kosovo and Metohija away from us, neither in this nor that age, just as no one could have taken Holy Jerusalem from the Jewish people. We call upon all of you, beginning with politicians and scholars down to the most humble and youngest sons and daughters of our Homeland, that with their work and honorable lives we be deserving of and preserve Kosovo and Metohija before God," the patriarch wrote.

"Knowing this," it continued, "the creators of this historic injustice wished to inflict the deepest possible wound, and unspeakable pain and suffering on us".

"Let scholars with their scientific work defend Kosovo and Metohija; let artists with their creativeness express the beauty and the essence of our Kosovo and Metohija; let athletes vow their successes to Kosovo and Metohija; let every parent have Kosovo and Metohija be a first word to whisper in his newborn’s ears; let every farmer dedicate his first hour of labor to Kosovo and Metohija; let every worker dedicate his first hour of work to Kosovo and Metohija; let every politician dedicate his first political thought to Kosovo and Metohija, let every pastor offer his first prayer to God for Kosovo and Metohija!," the message said.

"Just as the Psalmist of old sings of the unjustly taken and destroyed Jerusalem, we too must sing in the spirit of the Kosovo covenant: If we forget you Kosovo, if we forget you Metohija, let then the right hand of the Lord forget me! Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth, if I do not remember you, if I do not put forward Kosovo and Metohija as the beginning of my joy," the patriarch said.

The message sent special greetings to the members of the Serb Diaspora in the United States of America, Canada, Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Europe.

"We greet and call them to unite in our Resurrected Lord Jesus Christ, that they never again let others divide them and make them quarrel among themselves."

"We also greet our brothers and sisters in the Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Slovenia and the former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia. We greet the entire Church of God spread throughout the world and among people of good will. We call all to peace, unity and a good witness before all those outside," the patriarch said.

Using my words (I admit words of anger, but you`re nicely avoiding the factual information that I wrote you) so you could confirm your point of view is telling me that you can not see difference between right or wrong in spite of my efforts you to come closer to this issue.

It is your government that is about to start another sircle of violence taking by force part of sovereign country that was US ally in both WW. Let me tell you that there`s not one single country in Balkas (Greece, Romania) that support this, even though some of them were forced to recognize that criminal act, also like other nations in rest of Europe like Spain, Russia, Polish, Cheks, Slovaks. There`s more people every day that start to understand and raise their voice against this aggression.

Belive me, I understand why are talking like that, because I know that also in late 30 of last century there were not many Americans that could realize clearly what was going on in Europe and what was about to happen. It is clear similarity with Munich agreement and worse, during the war there were just “roomers” about horrific concentracion camps that have been created to eliminate whole nations and larger group of people (Jews, Slavs) and until liberation of those, nobody was aware of cosequencies of one “arian” nation fighting for it`s Lebensraum all over Europe.

Well, you certainly have a point there. We (America) were stupid enough to elect a president who made foreign policy decisions with his penis, instead of his brains. While I believe that it can be reasonably argued that SOMEONE should have intervened in the ethnic cleansing going on then, in Kosovo (and elsewhere in the Balkans) Clinton was an utter fool to put us on the side of the Albanians. Our current president apparently finds it necessary to follow through on that policy. I do not think that many Americans thought this was a good idea, much as I do not think that ALL Serbs wanted Serbs to mass murder Albanians in Kosovo.

I'll make a deal with you, personally: You come to my house. I will paint a “Bulls Eye” on my forehead, and hand you a loaded gun. All you have to do is promise to make it a clean kill, and promise that the people of the Balkans will stop hating and killing each other.

It`s been admitted that there was no any genocide and that it was all hoax, right after getting NATO troups into Kosovo region in 1999., so after primal screaming 300 000, 200 000, 100 000 deat, till whisperings about 2.108!!! It`s been confirmed by foreign forensic experts and that both Serbs and Albanians victims. That “Racak massacre” was fake just to provide reason to start blackmailing along with shameless Rambouillet proposal.

I guess sometimes it`s easier to say “I`m guilty” instead to end in never-to-get-out of endless circle of explaining and defending defendless as nobody wants to hear what you have to say. Just to say “I`m guilty, I`m sorry, let`s move on” as nobody want to hear or watch your proof of inosence. You know what`s interesting that anytime some “new” warcrime of non-Serbs pop out (in western media of course) is when western governments want something from Slovenia and use blackmail to get it (killing unarmed JNA soldiers) or Croatia (but not enough of bosnian or albanian), so serbian voice is stil unwanted and hidden. But time has changed, finaly, or it is changing. It`s been a long time for Serbia facing injustice and untruth. Enough for blaming the whole nation.

Excellent! TWO THOUSAND human beings were murdered. Tens of thousands were forced to flee in terror. Yes, yes. They were just PRETENDING to be murdered and were just PRETENDING to be driven out of their homes. “...it was all hoax.”

There is a hard reality facing you. You (personally) and you (Serbs) believe, as an article FAITH, that God has told you that Kosovo is YOURS. I tell you (all) that if God wants Kosovo (or anything else) to be YOURS, He will hand it to you on a silver platter. If, on the other hand, this belief of yours is a LIE; if God did NOT say that Kosovo is yours...

Well, then, in THAT case if you get possession of Kosovo, etc. You (you personally, and you Serbs) will get it by killing thousands more than have already been killed. Do you (personally) want to become a mass murderer, to get Kosovo? Do you (personally) want your fellow Serbs to become mass murderers? If not, you need to wait for God to give it to you(all).

Wait on God... or murder... tough choice. I cannot help but think that the choice will be murder.

Find out how many innocent deaths those US-led bombings on Serbia caused before you start throwing around numbers here. Find out why those Kosovars were evacuating, and who really forced them out. Find out what happened to those who tried to stay, and by whose hand it happened....then speak, and do so intelligently.

The funny thing is folks like yourself honestly believe that Serbs one day woke up and decided to start butchering people for no apparent reason, and you calmly accept and go with that ridiculous notion. You don’t even once think that maybe there is more to this than you’re being told. The reality is they (young Albanians led by militant Muslims who only want a foothold in Europe) tried to take that region over and were successful only due to the aid of the US (who also want a foothold in Europe). So when Serbia, one of the US most loyal allies throughout history, sees us take the side of known terrorists....can you possibly fathom what that would feel like?

Don’t try and make good Christian folks here feel bad by you siding with Muslims and saying it’s our fault for not doing the same. Some of us here have spines. God doesn’t hand anyone anything “on a silver platter” and if it comes down to living while being forced out of my country, my home, converting to Islam, possibly watching those I love being brutalized or killed vs. dying to try to prevent it.....I’m defending my family, my country, my beliefs and values...a shame you’re not, that’s why our country is where it is now.

This IS a joke, right? You IMAGINE that you are “searching for the real facts,” but in reality, whatever “truth” you find will be forced to fit into the template of your particular ethnicity. “We are good and decent.... THEY are evil. THEY mass murdered our people, and stole ________. So, we have to devote ourselves to getting it back, no matter how many of us have to die, or how many of THEM we have to kill. Because THEY are evil, and God is telling us to do it.”

And, guess what. Every other ethnic group in the Balkans believes EXACTLY the SAME thing. Each faction has done enough badness to the other sides (over the last thousand or so years) that each can point to this invasion, that atrocity, the other.... and each side necessarily exaggerates the evil doing of the others, and minimizes their own.

The really funny thing is: this tribalism goes on all over the world. It is just that the Balkans is famous for it.
