Just so you know -- Disruptors unwelcome on positive articles about the campaign we put up but if they decide to come ahead they will be pleased to know that a group has decided to donate money to Bush-Cheney everytime they show up to disrupt! That way we can turn a negative into a positive for Bush-Cheney '04!

That's nice. But it's still ugly. Why wouldn't they use a normal font instead of that first-grader crayon scrawl?

As requested . . . (originally posted on the October 2 "Day in the Life of President Bush" thread -- pictures included):

AN EVENING WITH THE PRESIDENT

What an evening; what a president!!

CHRONOLOGY:

My 11-year-old daughter, Danielle, and I arrived at the Lindner home (Carl Lindner owns the Cincy Reds) at approximately 3:30 PM for the 6:30 PM event – we were advised to get there EARLY so that we could position ourselves on the ‘rope line’ before the other 1,198 people arrived!

I knew the evening was going to be special after speaking with an incredibly sweet Secret Service agent at the front gate . . . his thoughtfulness enabled Danni and I to begin the evening with a smile!

After parking our car (and having another uplifting conversation with a Secret Service agent), Danni and I talked with the Boy Scout honor guards, bantered with the security guards (and their dogs – Danni LOVES dogs), and walked up the faux bridge into the tent.

Once inside, we immediately selected our spot on the rope line and began visually exploring our environment – the tent was beautifully decorated with flags/bunting, Bush-Cheney reflected lighting, fruit and flower topiaries, and artfully arranged food trays. I immediately helped myself to the shrimp while Danni desparately searched for pizza – no such luck!!

We then spent the next 2 ½ hours meeting fellow Republicans! What an incredible group of people – doctors, lawyers, judges, teachers, and lots and lots of entrepreneurs/business people. The family next to us on the rope line (mom, dad, two sons and their wives) own several successful businesses in the Cincy and Denver area . . . they had started with nothing and are now millionaires . . . they were sooooooooooooo upbeat and passionate about their family, their business, their country and their President (as was EVERYONE else that I met – it was absolutely inspirational)!! The 20-something gentleman next to me had recently graduated from Boston College and Harvard Business School – he now works for a playing cards company in Cincy; in fact, he helped design the Iraqi “Most Wanted” cards for our military – a fact he planned to share with the President!! Behind me stood several business leaders including radio personality, Billy Cunningham (for those of you familiar with 700WLW, it’s THAT Billy Cunningham – he was actually VERY charming and supportive of the President!).

Finally, the moment came: “Ladies and gentleman, the President of the United States, George W Bush!”

PANDEMONIUM: The applause was deafening; the flashbulbs were blinding; and the President was BEAMING!

It was such a surreal moment! There was the President of the United States standing just feet in front of me – smiling, waving, doing that adorable ‘aw shucks’ shoulder shrug that we’ve all seen a million times and just plain enjoying the ‘love’ emoting from both the audience and his friends on stage [NOTE: I think it speaks volumes that the President loves his friends – he has so MANY – and they clearly love him!]

After preliminary remarks by Carl Lindner (who informed us that we had raised over 2.5 million dollars -- well exceeding the fundraiser’s initial goal of 1.5 million), the President took the podium.

I so wish that I had had a video camera to record the President’s 30-minute speech -- it was PHENOMENAL . . . completely extemporaneous, witty, informative, inspirational, and PASSIONATE! The President was PASSIONATE about the war on terror and the troops who are fighting this war; the President was PASSIONATE about his faith and his commitment to changing our culture for the better (he lamented wistfully that vicious partisanship was making it difficult to get anything positive accomplished in Washington, but he was going to keep fighting the good fight); he was PASSIONATE about his judges; he was PASSIONATE about ‘fixing’ our economy; he was PASSIONATE about education and the “soft bigotry” of low expectations --during this segment of the speech he looked at Danni constantly (often with tears in his eyes; which of course caused me to have tears in MY eyes)—and he was PASSIONATE about his love for our country. How I wish all of you could have seen and heard him – he was just so uplifting and inspiring [I will now BOTH crawl thru broken glass AND walk across hot coals to vote for this incredible man!!!]

OK, OK, OK – the rope line!

After what seemed like a year, the President (and his 4 secret service agents) finally neared our section of the rope line and just enveloped Danni, me and the family next to us. We were all quite nervous; however, he was so warm, witty and emotionally accessible that we immediately began talking to him as though he were a member of our respective families. Kathy (the mom standing next to me) and her daughter-in-law asked him to autograph a pix of their new baby/grandbaby – the President was just so sweet . . . he gushed over the baby’s pix and then admitted that he was looking forward to becoming a granddad; in unison, we all exclaimed that he would make an AWESOME ‘pappy’. . . he smiled brightly and then commented that he didn’t want to rush his girls; after all, he wanted to make sure that they got married first and THEN had babies . . . at this moment SEVERAL people behind me reached over my head and shoulder to shake his hand and thank him for his leadership. I seized on this line and also thanked him for his leadership (we were having this conversation as he shook my hand – refer to the pix) he then leaned forward, (gulp), and gave me a quick peck on the cheek as he whispered “I hope they didn’t hurt you” referring to all of the hands coming over my head and shoulders . . . I just shook my head no and handed him my invitation which he graciously signed and then moved onto Danni . . . He spoke to Danni for at least 20-30 seconds (a lifetime in this type of environment), but she was in such a ‘state’ that she still can’t remember what he said. Fortunately, he came back to her after talking with the ‘card’ guy next to us . . . he crouched down so that he was eye level with her, gently grabbed her shoulders and said “. . . thanks again for coming, it means a lot to me!” He then stood up, smiled and continued on his way!

WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PERSON. Even though he had to be exhausted (he had come to Cincy from DC via Chicago), the President made everyone he met feel as though they were the most special person in the world to him. He stayed in the moment, made direct eye contact, talked about subjects important to the person, hugged, kissed, held hands; in other words, he gave of himself psychologically and EMOTIONALLY. He GENUINELY cared about the people around him (a fact verified by the secret service agents that Danni and I talked with throughout the evening – they just LOVE this man)!

Well, friends, that was my evening with the president – inspiring, uplifting and absolutely UNFORGETTABLE!

Danni and I are still walking on air: Bring on the broken glass and hot coals!!

The format is hokey, the graphics are lame, and the color scheme is awful. They desperately need to get a COOL format. Maybe Little Green Footballs webdesign could help them:

BTW, didn't mean to single you out -- I meant to put All and not your name about disruptors.

I have no idea about the graphic but you bring up a good point.

Please do post your comments/ideas about the blog so they can take into considerating when updating the site. Comments are always welcome to make the site better.

I understand you are big Bush supporter but puting in Breaking News is a little over the top. This should go under announcements not breaking news.

The following is what I got the first time I selected the "Economy" tab:
"Page Error
Sorry, there was a problem with the page you requested. Please try one of the pages below. Systems administrators have been notified."

It worked the second time.

Ok, here's my initial reaction - it looks too much like the regular Bush site. I want to see a blog where the gloves are off. I want to see the Democrat lies addressed in full on PAGE ONE. If this Administration has a weak point, it is its inability to get the truth out whether it's by television, radio or internet. They always seem to believe that somehow the truth will become known - well, it won't unless they play some hardball. They need to do it now because with many voters, when they hear the lies over and over again, they begin to stick in their minds and they begin to believe it.

I am a big Bush supporter that worked my heart out on the 2000 campaign so I am not just trying to be critical here. I admire and respect President Bush greatly. It is time for the gloves to come off. Period.

It does look (and act) much like the regular Bush site .... but the fact that it's called a blog might attract some people to it who would never check out the official site.
