McKEESPORT, Pa. (AP) -- A man who police say posed as a doctor and castrated a transgendered woman at her request was ordered Monday to stand trial for aggravated assault.

Doug Lenhart, 48, also is charged with reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of medicine and surgery. No trial date was set, and Lenhart was free on $25,000 bond.

Asked by Justice Thomas Brletic if she wanted to see Lenhart prosecuted, a weeping Watson didn't answer directly.

Watson testified that she is a transgendered woman who became "Catherine" when she was 6. She found Lenhart through the Internet and agreed to pay him $800. He told her he was a doctor, but not licensed in Pennsylvania, and had performed 23 other castrations, she said.

I'm confused. Why do they call this person a "she" when it was a he that was castrated? "He" became "she" at age six, then got castrated at age 48 on a dining room table.

Xena's Sister used to date a doctor's son, who performed VERY minor cosmetic surgery on XS on our parents' kitchen table about 15 years ago. It sketched me out, but the padre and madre were fine with it.

Amen. Transgendered people are mentally ill. I have actually known three in my life and nothing made them happy--not cross-dressing, not hormones, not surgery. The surgery is an alternative form of suicide, obviously.

If it was simply a matter of being in the wrong body, would anything less than normal, functioning reproductive organs be truly satisfactory? This person paid to have his male sex organ removed--why would that have contented him if he truly wanted to be female? Some of the clueless misogynists who troll this site might not realize it, but there's more to being "female" than just not having a penis. Gender starts at the molecular level. No surgeon could possibly counterfeit what God made of Adam's rib.

Even the gay community rejects these sad twisted spirits. They have an incredibly hard life. Pray for them because they are truly very sick.

no such creature, it is a man who wants to have surgery to LOOK like a woman. It is still a man. DNA says so.

The American's with Disabilities act SPECIFICALLY excludes this "illness" from its jurisdiction and applications. The Family courts routinely treat a father who as such cosmetic surgery as "the father".

The good news is that most states do not required you to hire such "ill" people.

Glenn Beck was talking about a Lesbian Festival which was trying to excluse "male lesbians"--men who are transgendered, surgically or not, and attracted to women. Like Glenn Beck, I am totally mystified why a man would want to lose his reproductive organs...so he can have sex with women.

I know from looking at the website of a high school friend who has had extensive gender-reassignment surgery that he (darn it, yes, HE!) isn't comfortable even in San Francisco. Lesbians avoid him and others like him even though that's what he appears to be. His life has been threatened many times by men and women, gay and straight. He has moved away from predominately gay areas now and is pursuing his "polyamorous primarily lesbian" lifestyle in a suburban "family-oriented" neighborhood.

There are many blogs for transgendered people. I can't look at stuff like this very long; it nauseates me that anyone could do this to himself, and turn away from God's plan. If I hadn't Googled to find out how old friends were doing, I'd have never been so aware of this.

My old friend was a disturbed but normally functioning young man who had sex with his girlfriends. He expressed no gender confusion to even his closest friends, back then. Something awful must have happened to his brain. It makes me sick to my stomach because it seems worse than suicide. He killed the person he used to be, and made this golem of an artificial person. He even had surgery to the bones of his face.

One of the women he lives with has a daughter, elementary age, and the daughter was in the waiting room with her mother when he had his mutilating surgery done.

Anyway, being persecuted by non-altered gays is a common thread in the rants they post.
