Just damn.

If you want on the new list, FReepmail me. This IS a high-volume PING list...

[As i mentioned, the B/C & JD! lists are going to float into and out of whack over the forseeable future, while I try to cobble a rig back together for myself. My apologies for any incovenience or misunderstandings in this time frame. New signups/removals may be flaky in this time-frame as well; please bear with me, and keep in mind you may have to FReepmail me more than once for me to get it done. Thanks again!]

I would bet the landlord is also "pro-choice." [As long as you make a liberal choice]

Her tenants will be able to sue her ass off and win for not dealing with vermin.

Who in their right mind would sign a lease with those type of stipulations?

If the owner doesn't want tenants that sell animal products, etc. that's his right, as long as it's in the lease and isn't something he came up with later. But I'll bet that allowing insects to overrun the place is a building or health code violation.

Actually I'm pretty sure that at one time there was a butcher shop that had been there for a long time and when the new landlord took over they had to move.

Did the PETA folks have a ceremony to purify the site from all of the carnage that occurred there?

I don't remember all the details, it's been a while, but I think that when the new owner took over most of the businesses had been there for a long time and were loath to move. Clearly they had a choice but you've been in the same location for 20 years, you incur moving expense, have advertising and miscellaneous expenses and probably lose some customers.

Well, at least there is the opportunity to relocate the ants... to the landlords house.

"When bridal shop owner Nancy Owen found ants in her store, she had two choices: relocate the critters or relocate her shop"

Where's the Health Department when you need it?

"If you don't have to cause animals to suffer – even the animals we don't understand so well like ants or mice or chickens – why not choose to be kind rather than to be cruel?” asked PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich.

I'm still waiting for Mr. Friedrich to have his immune system removed -- look at all the poor, misunderstood bacteria and viruses it kills every day....
