Operation Infinite FReep - Tell the Texas Democrats to Get Back to Work!
The Houston Area Texans ~ A FreeRepublic Network Chapter ^ | Tuesday, July 29, 2003 | Houston Area Texans

Posted on 07/29/2003 5:37:25 AM PDT by Flyer

TEXAS!

FReep the Texas Democrats

Have you took all you can take and you can't takes no more? Let's let the Texas Democrats know that we don't want them holding the entire State of Texas hostage just because they can't have their way.

"If the measures which have been pursued are approved by the majority, it is the duty of the minority to acquiesce and conform." --Thomas Jefferson to William Duane, 1811

For discussing specifics I have opened a forum area at our Chapter web site (see the "Texas Democrats Run Like Diarrhea" section). If you want to be actively involved in planning this FReep please join us there.

I have been very busy at work at won't always be here to reply to any posts. I won't have time to take the lead in this, but I am counting on y'all to help keep this going. I have provided the kindling - you build the fire.

FReep Big!

The best bumper sticker I've ever seen was the following:

Vote Democrat--It's Easier than Working!

Case in point in Texas.

Abdication of responsibility is no excuse. If not for a troublesome clause in the Texas state constitution, which requires a quorum of a certain size before any legislative vote may be declared legally sufficient, the Republicans would have long since passed a redistricting bill. The will of the people has been expressed, but the mandate cannot be carried out.

Correction...it's not in the state constitution..it's a rule of the legislative body, ( which, BTW, the Dems have ignored in previous instances when it suited them)....the GOP will now change the rule..the Dems have painted themselves into a corner..

Well, I've done one thing...I sent a scathing letter to the Chronic-Ill. They probably won't publish it, but it felt good to send it anyway.

The following was offered by John O and I think these are mighty fine poster ideas!!! (Anybody have more??)

Some rough ideas for signs/chants etc. I'm not from Texas but tried to phrase things correctly anyway. They may need to be rephrased to be more Texan.

"We can't win the fight today, so we'll just up and run away" -- Democrats

Show a Texas flag in the top half of the sign with "Texans don't run" under it. Then show the running dogs under it. "but they did"

Show the dems captioned "Running dogs afraid to fight"

"Demo's run, afraid to fight. Come back to work, and make it right"

"Where's the courage in running away?"

Show the Alamo with the caption "They didn't run away. Where are the democrats?"

"Great Texas traditions:
Liberty
Courage
(put some Texas type things here, great chili maybe?)
Missing Democrats"

---And from my beloved hubby --
WHEN A DEM SAYS HE'S GOING TO RUN - ASK **WHERE**

A few possibilities:

The old stomping grounds on Westheimer at the galleria. This is always high volume in traffic, but it is of no significance or relevance to the dems fleeing.

The Democrat HQ at 2404 LaBranch (just west of downtown in a cruddy little brick building next to the police station) is applicable to the issue for media coverage etc but its traffic is lower. They do get cars through there on weekdays during commuter hours though.

Of the local dems who fled I think all of their district offices are in the ghetto so that's probably not a good place to do it.

Other location ideas, anybody?

We definitely need a constitutional amendment to mend this mendacity. This is BS and it isn't that hard to change the constitution in Texas.
