In the first photo, the ship is in port and would not be expected to fly its flag. The perspective of the second photo does not include the flag. Here is a photo of the damaged ship arriving in Malta with her American flag clearly visible. This is the same size flag that was displayed the morning of the attack. Notice also the very large TRSSCOMM moon relay antenna on the aft. The ship was clearly not Egyptian.
