...The night before his arrest, Mahmud, who once shuttled among presidential palaces, had slept on the floor in the living room. He was reduced to eating lumpy yogurt to calm his stomach, and complained of asthma, Awad said.
"He just gave up when the Americans came," she added.
U.S. military officers said that Mahmud, the fourth most sought member of the former government after Hussein and his two sons, appeared stressed and alone, reduced to asking favors of locals, such as a bed for the night. He did not have his own transportation, money or weapons "of any significance," according to a senior U.S. military officer...

Just so folks know up front, according to this article the intel for this capture came from local Iraqis.

It's just unfortunate that I had to actually visit the Washington COM-Post website to read it. I'd hate to add to their advertising-revenue. But it's a good story, nonetheless.

Oh how the mighty have fallen. It's a good indicator that the regime is pretty much gone.

It's just unfortunate that I had to actually visit the Washington COM-Post website to read it. I know, I was a bit embarassed to admit I was looking at the site in the first place [hanging head]. But although the ComPost's political leanings drive me nuts, they do have some excellent world news and political reporting.
Don't get me wrong. I'll take the WashTimes over them any day!

Anyone ever here of this man...
Ahmed Dalaf
He is the one who transported the Ace of Diamonds to where he was captured....and is now wanted.

He did not have his own transportation, money or weapons "of any significance," according to a senior U.S. military officer... This guy's gonna be a goldmine of information. Some smart intel guy is going to capitalize on what appears to be total alienation from the rest of Saddam's crew. "No, Mahmud, they weren't very good friends, were they? So where do you suppose they are now?"

I was encouraged to hear that he essentially gave up when the troops arrived. While no guarantee, I'd say that a good sign for our counterintelligence folks.

The rest of the story was pretty good, too. If we keep finding these stashes of cash and jewels, we can repair the country even without oil sales.

Sounds like the Ace of Diamonds was abandoned by the rich and powerful survivors of the $oddomite Regime.
With a little food, IV Versed and the Barney "I Love You!" song being played 24/7, he will be singing like Caruso.

Sort of like how the Clintons treated Webb Hubbell, isn't it?
To: Dog Gone
Yeah, not only is that more money toward reconstruction, but obviously it's less money for the pro-Saddam resistance and for the head cowards to hide with.

Sort of like how the Clintons treated Webb Hubbell, isn't it? Now you're not being fair. Hillary gave Webb a child, after all!

You are correct! That was how the Clinton's treated their old friend, Webb Hubbell.

Am I the only female around here who wants to see a picture of all that gold jewelry with the diamonds, emeralds and rubies?
A little frosting on the cake of our coup, please.

Have Anna Kournikova model the jewelry and this male, along with a few others I'm sure, will gladly join you in viewing the booty bounty. :-)
