Troop Prayer Thread 6

We have been gathering here in order to unite our forces to weave a tapestry of protection by God's grace over our troops who have been and are in harm's way. We operate under the theory that if the prayers of a righteous man availeth much, then the prayers of a single-minded group can avail even more!

We pray not only for our troops in harm's way, but also for our leaders, our nation, and our people, as well as our allies, and any situation or circumstance which can have an effect on any of those things.

We are listing here members of the active armed services known to us for whom we want to pray. We continue to hold vigil for those who are still in harm's way. Because stable government in Iraq and Afghanistan is a condition which reduces the risk of attack on our nation and her allies, and it thereby reduces the risk to our troops, we will also be holding vigil on this thread for the Victory War. In other words, we will be praying that the Victory won with the blood and sacrifice of our precious troops will not be lost by diplomatic or unwise negotiations. At all times we will be praying for only God's Will and Plan to be made manifest in Iraq, Afghanistan, the Middle East region, and throughout the world.

If you would like to submit someone for our list, you are welcome to do so at any time. Post their name or pseudonym here on the thread or freepmail amom or myself. If we have made any errors, OR IF THE STATUS OF YOUR TROOPER HAS CHANGED please let us know so that we may correct the list. When your trooper returns home, let us know so that we may rejoice with you! We will be making periodic updates. If you want to be added or removed from the ping list please let amom or me know by freepmail.

We invite everyone, active Freepers and Lurkers alike to join our circle in prayer for these fine men and women who have volunteered to place their lives on the line for the defense of our nation and for the liberation of the oppressed peoples of other nations. To them we send our greatest respect and gratitude. We send them our prayers and good thoughts. We ask for God's blessing upon them and their families.

For those of us who have somewhat limited computer capacity, we request that graphics be limited to pictures of loved ones for whom we are offering prayers, special visuals that seem particularly appropriate, and as much as possible, non-moving graphics. Thank you.

PRAYER WARRIOR FIELD TRIP!!

I want to alert all Prayer Warriors here, including lurkers, of course, that Ragtime Cowgirl has started tracking press coverage relative to the efforts of our military in the war on terrorism. She has started a ping list for those also interested in tracking this information. I know that many here share the opinion that up to date information is crucial to making effective intercessory prayers and might find this information helpful. (Ms Ragtime, if I have misstated your mission, please forgive me and please set me straight here, if you would!)

One of the threads which she has posted recently contains her invitation to be put on her ping list. I urge all who are interested in supporting our troops to please check out this thread, and if you feel called to do so, sign up for her ping list!

Thanks to all of you for each of your precious prayers. Each one of them counts, and by God's grace, as each of us offers our prayers daily, there is a multiplication of effort. Maybe that little 5 second prayer of yours for an unknown troop is just enough to be joined to someone else's 10 minute prayer which in turn multiplies the efforts of someone else, and because there is that boosting of volume, a life is spared. A faulty part is discovered before a breakdown in a dangerous place. A small child is in the right place at the right time to be helped by a medical team. We truly do not know the true effect of our small offerings, but I think we can say with great certitude that they are needed and very powerful. We must NEVER allow ourselves to think that we dont matter.

I like to think of it like this. We each one of us wear a mantle given to us by the Holy Spirit. We have a choice. We can claim that mantle, or we can choose to let it stay in the closet. When we wear that mantle, we are granted certain increments of support from Holy Spirit. "OK," I may say to myself, "I am imperfect. I am just a little round lady with gray hair and glasses living out on the Oklahoma Plains." That may be who I am without this mantle, but with this mantle on, it is my job to overlook all that. God needs me and my prayers NOW. He wants me to follow His Laws and follow the Example he has given me. I know I all too often fall short, but somehow, by His grace, by choosing to wear the mantle He has given me, my little offerings are acceptable and grow in effectiveness as long as I practice wearing this mantle of office.

These are just a few thoughts and speculations. They are offered here only as my own ruminations. If anyone finds them useful, I rejoice. If they are not useful to you, please kindly overlook my musings.

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS

Our Beloved Heavenly Father,

We have seen that there are forces at work in this nation and across the world who do not wish for America and her allies to win the peace in Iraq and Afghanistan and other places we are waging the War On Terror.

Father, we have been concerned about this in our prayer circle since we saw the toppling of the statues of Saddam and his regime. We have prayed over these months and continue to pray for all opposition to the winning of the peace to be shattered and turned back. Father, we come before you in this hour and we have in our possession the information that there are many elements in our press who do seem to be working diligently to destroy the morale of our troops, their families, and our people. We see that lack of reporting of the GOOD news and the many small and great victories which are being won daily is the most harmful thing being done to our war effort. We see that instead of reporting the truth about what is happening to gradually change an entire society and culture into an orientation of freedom our media are blaring out stories about how we are mired in a hopeless quagmire and guerilla war.

Father, we share concerns about the safety of our troops and we grieve deeply for the loss of each precious one who has been assassinated by ambush and suicide killers. We petition you for your intercession in this entire matter. Please, Father keep each and every one of our heroes safe. But Father, these heroes have volunteered to do a very difficult job. They ARE willing to place their lives on the line. They KNOW that their service and sacrifice is for the liberation of oppressed people and for the continuation of liberty, safety and freedom in this nation and that of our allies. We therefore, ask you, Father, to take command of this entire situation with the lack of proper reporting of the true picture of what is happening on the front lines in the War On Terror. We also ask that you will convey to the hearts of each and every one of our troops our genuine and undying gratitude for their exemplary service.

Father, please touch the hearts and minds of those who are the reporters, the editors, the owners of the various media outlets. Father, if they can be reached and turned around by your Holy Spirit, and have their hearts melted by Grace, we call it forth. If they are hard in their hearts, we ask that you will render ineffective and impotent their efforts to destroy the morale of our troops and our people.

We ask that those who are working diligently to get the word of truth about our victories out to the world be granted your blessing and assistance. Take this information and disperse it to all and sundry who need to have it.

If there indeed are errors or mistakes being made, please guide those in positions of responsibility the wisdom to make corrections as need arises. We continue to ask that our troops be fully and properly equipped and fed and housed. Overshadow all our officers, particularly, but not limited to, security, maintenance, supply, and quartermaster officers. Continue to overshadow our President, the congressmen of both houses, and all who are in positions of leadership.

Father, let this all be done according to thy will and only thy will, according to your good pleasure and timing. Strengthen and guide us in our resolve to support the efforts of our beloved troops.
