***Operation Iraqi Freedom - Situation Room - Day 8 - LIVE THREAD***
Various | 3/27/2003 | Me

Posted on 03/26/2003 9:04:14 PM PST by Centurion2000

Good Morning.

This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.

It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.

Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:

Special thanks to null and void for keeping these running over the weekend and Monday, to all of you for keeping these threads alive, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

"No mention, of course, of the use of human shields, the Iraqi army dressing up like civilians, the public execution of US POWs, the use of children as combatants, conscripting men & threatening their families with death if they didn't fight....need I go on?"

Exactly what I thought when I heard this. You know, this war has had one VERY positive effect. It is exposing the libs of all stripes for the shallow self serving pukes they really are. I hope they get louder and more shrill.

I believe the applicable provision may be the prohibition of using POW's for propaganda purposes. This would fold in the advance in broadcast technology, don't you think?

My understanding is that "soldiers" caught fighting wearing civilian clothes are subject to immediate execution.

On the webcam, you can now see the smoke coming straight up. I assume that means no wind.

The other night before Iraqi TV got nixed a guy (do not remember his title) was going on and on about how all Iraqi have a food supply of six months. Musta been spreading disinformation.

Yep, EST.

If war coverage disrupts the schedule, they usually go to CNBC.

I've about had it with these CENTCOM briefings. Today's Q from NY reporter was idiotic. He thinks he's just getting rehashed Pentagon briefings? I ask him, is the Pentagon showing RERUNS of CENTCOM footage, or the other way around? Perhaps that reporter should go to Pentagon briefing and ask the same question. If he disses both briefings, then maybe he'll diss battlefield reports from embedded reporters. Pretty soon his magazine can just go home and not report on anything because they think it's all worthless. Or perhaps he'd like to explain to his audience why they feel the need to pick and choose which parts of the total picture they will report on and which they won't.

Gad, I hate the mainstream media.

Another Freeper posted this last night, I had to grab it and send it out to my liberal friends:

using civilians as human shields
military units dressed in civilian clothes
fake surrender ambushes
arming with chemical weapons
systematic rape and torture
execution and (possible) castration of POW's
forcing soldiers to fight under threat of death to their families
placing military targets in hospitals
using ambulances for military transport
suicide bombings
attacking their own population
gassing their own population
cutting off water to their own cities

vs.

possibly bombing a market by accident

Guess which draws more protest from the media, the UN and Amnesty International?
