Dirkson Office Building being evacuated
Posted on 03/25/2003 9:32:55 AM PST by Myrnick
Just received a phone call from my parents. They were in Hart this morning when it emptied out, now Dirkson is doing the same thing. Hart was not a drill. Anyone have better word on this than I do?

Also those that have direct contact said it wasn't a drill.
Two buildings evac'd doesn't sound like a drill.

I'll bet anything it's those right-wing angry white Republican males spreading anthrax again, just like after 9/11.

Hopefully, it's a dress rehearsal. They can then evac the Senate itself but the Repubs will stay long enough to have a vote on Estrada and confirm him while the Democrats are standing out in the snow.

Yes, but the two people whom I spoke to who were let back in, were told by security staff that it was not a drill. Who knows? Certainly not me.

Two buildings evac'd doesn't sound like a drill. Why not? Businesses in a campus environment often schedule their drills for the same day so that Civil Service (fire dept) officials can be there to observe and critique. Usually, the buildings have their drills about 30 minutes apart throughout the day.
Why wouldn't gov't offices clustered together do the same thing?

Yes, but the two people whom I spoke to who were let back in, were told by security staff that it was not a drill. Maybe a false alarm, then?

Just a note of correction. It's DirksEn, not Dirkson.
Named after the late, grate Everett M. DirksEn from Pekin, Illinois.
Bill in Morton, 10 miles from Pekin.

Daschle is reportedly "deeply saddened" by the temporary loss of water pressure in the Hart complex.

The water pressure may be accurate, but the buildings have been evacuated for a second time.
There are dogs sniffing around and someone on the street mentioned something about a gas leak. I don't place much faith in the gas leak part.

Just reported that an office assistant of Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) opened letter with white powder.
