Images of death, violence shock Arabs

People all over the Arab world yesterday went in a state of shock over the footage of dead bodies shown on Al Jazeera television.

Dead bodies of the Iraqis shown on the television in southern Iraq made many Jordanians not only tremble but it also deepened their previous position towards war on Iraq.

"They (pictures) were disgusting and terrifying," said a 22-year-old Jordanian girl, who asked not to be named. "How did they (Allied Forces) bomb them? What kind of strikes are these? It is obvious they were civilians, particularly the children."

Some of the pictures showed children with their brains blown out, bodies of adults without the upper parts, and scores of bodies in a pool of blood.

"This is unbelievable," said Yomna, another Jordanian woman in her early 20s.

Despite the fact that she and her family were forced to leave Kuwait in the early 1990s, shortly before the eruption of the Gulf war forcing Iraqi troops out of Kuwait, Yomna said she has now completely changed her views towards Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and she strongly supports him.

"I fully support him because he said no to the United States. He makes me feel proud of being an Arab."

Many Jordanians have also expressed their deep frustration, concern, and anger after the U.S.-led alliance started war on Iraq early on Thursday.

"I hope this war stops, and the innocent lives are saved," said Ala', a Jordanian in his late thirties, in his reaction to the footage of causalities, which he and many others described as "terrifying which made them trembling."

"This war is not a just one. It is a war from one side only," said Kahraman, an interior designer, in reference to the high technology weapons the allied forces are using.

While many Jordanians were shocked, some blamed the Iraqi President for being responsible in getting the innocent civilians killed in the attacks on southern Iraq. They said the allied forces are now targeting the civilians about which earlier said they will not do.

"Why is he (Hussain) putting the military targets among civilians?" a woman asked after watching the latest news on television yesterday morning. "There are military personnel wearing civilian clothes and are living among them."

Bahrainis yesterday condemned the attack of the allied forces on innocent Iraqi civilians after the release of their pictures on the Arabic channels.

Ten-year-old Susan Al Mosawi said that she cannot understand how killing innocent children can make Iraq a better place.

"My parents told me that America is attacking Iraq because Saddam is bad. But why are they killing innocent children who have nothing to do with the government?"

An employee at Al Ahli Bank, Ghazi Farhan, said innocent people have been targeted to free Iraq from its regime, which is surprising.

"We are all against Saddam, but I am positive that the Americans could have removed Saddam without any bloodshed. What is happening is a massacre and should be stopped.

"I ask all the countries to get together and pressure the U.S. to end this war before any further disasters happens."

Farah Dehdar, a housewife, said she was shocked at the results of the war so far. "I couldn't believe the pictures they were showing on TV. How could they possibly do this. Don't they recall September 11?" she said.

Farah said the Americans should know better than killing civilians because they were also once targeted and lost thousands.

Fifteen-year-old Mohammed Abbas, said that if he will ever see an American in Bahrain, he will personally attack him. "It is my right to do so. If they can attack Iraqis and kill them for no reason, then I can do the same."

Suad, mother of eight children said: "When I watched the horrible scenes on satellite channels, I was reminded of my own children. I said to myself if I and my children were those among killed while sleeping, what could we do?

"It is really something that cannot be expressed in words. It makes me think that the Americans and British troops and their leaders, I mean Bush and Blair, are not human."

Radhia, her family member, said: "We as humans understand that it is not a matter of who is stronger and swallowing the other, but it seems this is the logic of Bush and Blair who want to swallow Iraq. But they will never succeed. This is an evil act and only good prevails at the end."

The 10-year-old Abeer, Suad's daughter, said: "When I saw that little child with her head crushed I hated America, I hated Bush."

Rashed, the father, said: "I used to tell my children about the scientific progress of America and encouraged them to study hard, but now I want them only to learn who is our enemy is, who is the enemy of humanity? They should know it is Bush and his administration who are mercilessly bombing the innocent people in Iraq and elsewhere."

Nabil Al Bukairy, a university student, said: "When I saw all those people dead, I really felt something disgusting, and striking Muslims in their homes means, undoubtedly, that Islam is the real aim of the Anglo-American invasion. I realised it is a crusade as Bush said one day. He only used the word to deceive us."

Laila, a banker in Dubai, said: "Where are America's human rights now? Entering someone else's country and killing innocent people is inhumane. And then America says that it will give the so called 'humanitarian' aid to Iraq after the war, but will it leave any Iraqis there. It is about time that the Muslim world rise against its vicious plan and says no to its products. By hitting its economy we can succeed."

Amr, a businessman, said: "By God we hate America. It calls others terrorists, but it is the biggest terrorist itself and Bush is its head. In the wake of this war on Iraq it wants to swallow Palestine, and no one will even find out.

"By the time the Muslim world wakes up Palestine will be gone. I only wish the Ummah rises against this aggressor. May God give us the courage to stand against the American onslaught."

M. Issa, an Arab doctor in Sharjah, said that she could not watch TV nor sleep throughout the night after she watched "the most horrible footage in my life" on Al Jazeerah TV.

"If liberating people is done through crushing children's heads and bodies like this, then liberation is much worse than murder," she said.

She urged parents to keep an eye on their children while watching TV footage of the war, as "such images might create serious psychological problems for children and affect their mood. I do not think that I am going to let my children watch Iraq war anymore since what I saw yesterday was very dangerous for them and I am sure that more people will be killed in the same way."

She called upon the international community to take the matter more seriously and help put an end to the war in the region as soon as possible.

"Enough is enough! Let children live in peace!" she said.

Now, if Saddam would stop putting his troops in civies and moving children next to military targets things could be different [assuming that these deaths are not caused by the Iraqi military to begin with and made to look like the work of allied weapons]

Comic relief, no doubt. Just the mere thought of an Arab being shocked by death and violence... heehee...

The moral of the story: Don't make us angry. Bad things happen to people who upset us.

They are only shocked and angered when it happens to them or their "Muslim (cult) Brothers"..

Otherwise they are gleeful and gloating, as they were when they saw the pictures of the murdered American POWs.

This is an inherent feature of Islamic psychology because it is taught from childhood.

It only shocks Arabs when the dead aren't Jewish children. They're used to butchering unopposed.

Do the images of "death and violence", when it's Israeli citizens on the receiving end, shock them?

These hypocrites can go to he!!

Specifically, they are only shocked and angered when it happens to Muslim brothers and sisters and we or Israelis are the ones doing it. Saddam's forces have been torturing and killing children for years, but from the talk in this article, you'd think we invented it.

Otherwise, I agree with you entirely. It seems the suffering of a kuffir is at best an unfortunate event not worth more than a moment's notice, at worst an excuse to throw a block party.

They assume that the U.S. is to blame for these deaths. Even if it is true, how many did they see? A dozen dead? If they are so easily swayed against us, what the hell. Why are we being so careful? Why excerise such unappreciated caution if said caution causes us an exponential loss of American and British lives?

Ahahhaha! Exactly. These freaks are bombarded with images and exhortation to death and gore when they go to the mosque every Friday.

But this article just demonstrates stupidity. Do they not notice that traffic continues AS NORMAL WHILE EXPLOSIONS ARE GOING ON IN BAGHDAD? If that doesn't show that Iraqis aren't afraid of the bombing, nothing will.

Odd, I didn't know that Susan Sarandan was in the Middle East, I thought I saw her at the Oscars recently.

I heard early today on some conservative talk radio show that the Red Crescent said that there were 39 civilian wounded and one dead from the bombing in Baghdad. I guess these people could be from other towns - or perhaps old photos from Saddam's Shredders.

Sorry, but if violence is the only language they listen to, then that's the language we should use.

For some strange reason, both American and Australian colonials were able to throw off the yoke of their oppressors...why can't these folks do the same? I'll give you a hint...it starts with Mohammed and ends in "hate".

What contemptible parents, to allow a 10-year-old to view that type of footage.

People all over the Arab world yesterday went in a state of shock over the footage of dead bodies shown on Al Jazeera television.

That's funny considering that so many turn out to celebrate schoolbus bombings in Israel, the collapse of the WTC, the bombing of the USS Cole, the decapitation of Danny Pearl, the stoning of women for miniscule offenses, and even the suicides of their own children.

Dead bodies of the Iraqis shown on the television in southern Iraq made many Jordanians not only tremble but it also deepened their previous position towards war on Iraq.

How can it deepen when it was already 100% against owing to Saddam's patronage of palestinian terrorists?

"They (pictures) were disgusting and terrifying," said a 22-year-old Jordanian girl, who asked not to be named. "How did they (Allied Forces) bomb them? What kind of strikes are these? It is obvious they were civilians, particularly the children."

First of all, there is absolutely no way to tell if the injuries were caused by US weapons or Iraqi weapons or were on file from countless wars in the past.

But if we didn't give a rat's behind about civilians, you idiots, Baghdad would no longer be there. We would NUKE Iraq into submission.

Some of the pictures showed children with their brains blown out, bodies of adults without the upper parts, and scores of bodies in a pool of blood.

Remember how it looks and then think about Saddam Hussein's children's prison, or a Palestinian attack on Israeli school kids. and then try to figure out just who killed those kids if the photos weren't captioned by some guy who thinks talking teenagers into wearing belt bombs or beating his wife is acceptable.

"This is unbelievable," said Yomna, another Jordanian woman in her early 20s.

Tell that to Israelis or the families of those who died on the USS Cole, or the families of those Kenyans who were killed when some Arabs decided to bomb a US embassy, or tell it to the Aussie families who lost loved ones in Bali.

So, ol' Yomna was forced to leave Kuwait in the early nineties BEFORE the Gulf War, eh? Now why would that be? Perhaps her Palestinian radicalism was not viewed as friendly by the Kuwaitis? Perhaps she had sympathies for Hussein all along, as many Palestinian workers in Kuwait were eager collaborators when the Iraqis invaded. I suspect she was one of the collaborators and was forced to leave Kuwait AFTER the Iraqis were evicted.

"I fully support him because he said no to the United States. He makes me feel proud of being an Arab."

So, she feels proud of being an Arab because she is impressed with an evil tyrant who has killed more Muslims than anyone can shake a stick at? Or was that OK because so many of the victims were Kurds or Iranians?

Many Jordanians have also expressed their deep frustration, concern, and anger after the U.S.-led alliance started war on Iraq early on Thursday.

Iraq started the war in 1990, and affirmed its desire for war by failing to comply with its obligations as recently as this year. It's just a continuation of the same war; only the goals have evolved.

"I hope this war stops, and the innocent lives are saved," said Ala', a Jordanian in his late thirties, in his reaction to the footage of causalities, which he and many others described as "terrifying which made them trembling."

But you just loved seeing bulletholes in the heads of US POWs, right? I hope the war stops too so that innocent lives may be saved. I would like to find out what happened to 600 Kuwaitis, 2 naturalized Iraqi-born US citizens, and one US pilot, plus all the other missing Iraqis the regime is responsible for.

"This war is not a just one. It is a war from one side only," said Kahraman, an interior designer, in reference to the high technology weapons the allied forces are using.

War is not made unjust simply because one side is better equipped than the other. Your logic fails.

While many Jordanians were shocked, some blamed the Iraqi President for being responsible in getting the innocent civilians killed in the attacks on southern Iraq. They said the allied forces are now targeting the civilians about which earlier said they will not do.

Just when you think someone is starting to get it, they still screw up in thinking we are targetting civilians at all. It's simple, folks... if we wanted to target civilians we would do it with a nuke and thus guarantee no American or Coalition lives would be lost.

"Why is he (Hussain) putting the military targets among civilians?" a woman asked after watching the latest news on television yesterday morning. "There are military personnel wearing civilian clothes and are living among them."

Now THIS woman gets it. I hope she has many children of like mind, so that the Arab world will have a future.

Bahrainis yesterday condemned the attack of the allied forces on innocent Iraqi civilians after the release of their pictures on the Arabic channels. <

But didn't consider the possibility that those photographed may just as easily been hit by Iraqi AA fragments or other weapons.

Ten-year-old Susan Al Mosawi said that she cannot understand how killing innocent children can make Iraq a better place.

It hasn't. Iraq hasn't improved since Saddam Hssein came to power.

"My parents told me that America is attacking Iraq because Saddam is bad. But why are they killing innocent children who have nothing to do with the government?"

We're not. Hussein is. All he had to do was cooperate with inspectors, return captured prisoners, and disarm as he had agreed to do. He was given 12 years to comply, and then a final opportunity to help his people by voluntarily leaving Iraq. He chose instead to risk his people and sacrifice his conscript army. It doesn't help when Iraqi soldiers and agents hide among civilians and use them as shields.

An employee at Al Ahli Bank, Ghazi Farhan, said innocent people have been targeted to free Iraq from its regime, which is surprising.

Once again, if we wanted to target civilians there are easier and more efficient ways to do it. We could simply leave Hussein in power so he can kill off more. He is better at it than we.

"We are all against Saddam, but I am positive that the Americans could have removed Saddam without any bloodshed. What is happening is a massacre and should be stopped.

This is a myth. Try laying out a plan to accomplish anything against the Iraqi regime without bloodshed. I dare you.

"I ask all the countries to get together and pressure the U.S. to end this war before any further disasters happens."

Don't waste your breath. If you want it to end, help us win swiftly, because now that we are involved, we are willing to do whatever it takes. Don't try to push us too far.

Farah Dehdar, a housewife, said she was shocked at the results of the war so far. "I couldn't believe the pictures they were showing on TV. How could they possibly do this. Don't they recall September 11?" she said.

Don't you recall Beirut, the Achille Lauro, Khobar Towers, the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, Somalia, the assassinations of assorted Americans, the hostages and hijackings, the USS Cole, Bali, and countless other little Islamic efforts to spread their joy? Don't try to play like that's the worst you ever saw on TV. We all know what you consider entertainment.

Farah said the Americans should know better than killing civilians because they were also once targeted and lost thousands.

funny how Farah isn't concerned in the least about Iraqis deliberately killing civilians.

Fifteen-year-old Mohammed Abbas, said that if he will ever see an American in Bahrain, he will personally attack him. "It is my right to do so. If they can attack Iraqis and kill them for no reason, then I can do the same."

Kid, grow up and learn to do something productive. If you think that targetting a random American in revenge is equivalent to accidentally hitting someone who is being used as a shield by some thugs is moral, you need more time to mature. The two aren't the same. How come you don't want to kill random Iraqis because the Iraqi government gassed Kurds, or kill random Palestinians because Arafat had his men blow up an ice cream shop full of women and kids? I know why. You only concern yourself with your racial group and religious affiliation.

Suad, mother of eight children said: "When I watched the horrible scenes on satellite channels, I was reminded of my own children. I said to myself if I and my children were those among killed while sleeping, what could we do?

You can't do anything when you are dead. It's obvious, woman, THINK before you shoot off at the mouth.

"It is really something that cannot be expressed in words. It makes me think that the Americans and British troops and their leaders, I mean Bush and Blair, are not human."

That's the problem with a lot of Arabs. They don't see non-Arabs as being human at all- many call Jews pigs or monkeys. Some Arabs don't even see each other as being human if they have a religious disagreement.

Radhia, her family member, said: "We as humans understand that it is not a matter of who is stronger and swallowing the other, but it seems this is the logic of Bush and Blair who want to swallow Iraq. But they will never succeed. This is an evil act and only good prevails at the end."

Case in point- she clearly thinks of herself as human, but implies that others are not. But I can agree that good prevails in the end, which is why we are going to win so long as we stay the course on defeating Hussein, who is clearly evil.

The 10-year-old Abeer, Suad's daughter, said: "When I saw that little child with her head crushed I hated America, I hated Bush."

But you are too young and ignorant to be angry with the people responsible, otherwise known as Baathists.

And I see that the Dad is an idiot, too, and prefers that Hussein and his party live to kill and oppress as many Iraqis as they want.

You aren't ready for scientific progress when your ideology is still firmly in the 11th century and when Arabs are still chucking rocks at bound women for alleged infidelity, talking young people into suicide, and enslaving people in the Sudan.

But you have no problem with killing Jews, do you?

Laila, a banker in Dubai, said: "Where are America's human rights now? Entering someone else's country and killing innocent people is inhumane. And then America says that it will give the so called 'humanitarian' aid to Iraq after the war, but will it leave any Iraqis there. It is about time that the Muslim world rise against its vicious plan and says no to its products. By hitting its economy we can succeed."

Meanwhile, Arabs prop up terrorists worldwide to enter people's countries and kill innocent people. But what's good for them to do to others is offensive if done to them, of course.

Amr, a businessman, said: "By God we hate America. It calls others terrorists, but it is the biggest terrorist itself and Bush is its head. In the wake of this war on Iraq it wants to swallow Palestine, and no one will even find out.

Why anyone would WANT places like the Gaza strip is beyond me. That's like coveting a few acres of landfill, isn't it? Get serious, we have Florida and Oregon and Alaska and the Blue Ridge Mountains. People fighting over land stripped and abused by Arab overgrazing and misuse has always been baffling to Americans.

"By the time the Muslim world wakes up Palestine will be gone. I only wish the Ummah rises against this aggressor. May God give us the courage to stand against the American onslaught."

You aren't bothered by Israel being conquered and after fighting back, being renamed Palestine by Rome though, were you? Palestine never existed as an Arab state. Go suck eggs. And take your oppresive imperialistic theocracy dreamworld known as the Ummah with you too.

M. Issa, an Arab doctor in Sharjah, said that she could not watch TV nor sleep throughout the night after she watched "the most horrible footage in my life" on Al Jazeerah TV.

I suggest she watch the videos Saddam hussein sends out to his dissidents. You know, the ones where the dissident's relatives get raped and tortured by Hussein's professionals. Age and innocence doesn't seem to matter to them.

"If liberating people is done through crushing children's heads and bodies like this, then liberation is much worse than murder," she said.

Well, then I reckon you shouldn't support the idea of a Palestinian state. Turning children into hamburger is part of the palestinian fighting style since they started the Intifadah. Of course, Palestinians and their Iraqi backers do it intentionally.

Better take a look at what your kids have been reading in their school books, lady. Or the Koran, for that matter.

She called upon the international community to take the matter more seriously and help put an end to the war in the region as soon as possible.

We're working on it.

"Enough is enough! Let children live in peace!" she said

Then quit calling for Holy War and spewing nonsense in support of Hussein- he is not a man of peace and no Baathist or Islamicist ever will be.
