KUWAIT (Reuters) - Explosions have rocked northern Kuwait and security officials say they are checking the origin of the blasts.One defence official said he had heard the explosions were caused by a missile landing in the Mutlaa Ridge area just north of the town of Jahra.
But civilian workers contacted in the area said they believed the blasts were caused by U.S. forces doing last minute preparations and training before taking part in an expected land advance on Iraq.
A senior security official told Reuters the unexplained blasts occurred near a military encampment area in the desert recently vacated by U.S. and British forces advancing towards the Iraqi border.
