Caught this from Instapundit. A declaration of war by the Neos at NRO on the Paleos.

I note that Buchanan has written a piece about the country coming together today. I agree that we should, and perhaps we can put aside the dispute for a few days, at least with respect to those who hold back while our troops are in harms way.

If this has been posted, the search engine better be improved. I searched the title, conservative, paleo, neocon, Buchanan, and Frum.

They began by hating the neoconservatives. They came to hate their party and this president. They have finished by hating their country.

It's about time someone said this.

This had to be said. MacDonald is interesting, and his scholarly work worth reading. I don't think he is an antisemite, unless his popular stuff so implies. I am sorry to see Bob Novak in the paleo camp.

Very good post. I'll need to come back to finish it. This jumped out at me:

"The civilization that we as whites created in Europe and America could not have developed apart from the genetic endowments of the creating people." — SAMUEL FRANCIS, SPEECH AT THE AMERICAN RENAISSANCE CONFERENCE, MAY 1994,

There are other quotes in here that lend a certain credence to accusations that the paleos are borderline Nazis. This piece is quite informative, and I believe Frum places quotes like these in the appropriate context. For those who still use the phrase "Go Pat Go" when reading or hearing a Buchanan diatribe, you may wish to take a long look at the paleo philosophy as a whole before casting your lot with it. Or at the very least, don't be too offended when others throw the Nazi tag at you...

My respect for Bob Novak is following that of Buchanan right down the Sobran hole.

I think Frum is just pissed off that Novak took his a$$ apart when he reviewed his book.

Oh, NR, your little war with the paleos is such a bore. Look to your own insularity, your cute clubbishness, for at least some of the answer.

Out here in flyover country, you've the whiff of the unbearably prissy and effete, which is why I click on your parochial site less and less. Like so many academicians, your status is the "otherwise unemployable." Do keep in mind that your readers don't take you with the seriousness you take yourselves... I'd like to see an article on how many of you attained your pundit status through Daddy's and Mumsy's careers...

I don't know about all this paleo/neo stuff, and certainly don't see how squabbling is going to help the conservative movement. I'm not sure if I would be considered a paleo or neo; I would cite Goldwater's Conscience of a Conservative to fairly summarize my views. Which one of these two groups would be most comfortable with Goldwater's 1964 views and an end to our no-borders policy?
