US Intel Issues Alert for Bali-Type Attack in UAE

Western diplomatic sources said United States intelligence has been alerted of an Al Qaeda inspired attack in the UAE port city of Dubai.

The sources said the alert warned of an attack similar to the Al Qaeda bombing of a Bali Indonesia nightclub in October 2002 in which about 200 people died.

Dubai is a leading hub as well as a tourist spot for Westerners. Dubai and Manama are the only cities in the Persian Gulf Region with a brisk Western style nightlife.

Over the weekend, the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi warned Americans against visiting nightclubs in Dubai. The embassy said that the nightclubs could serve as soft targets for Islamic insurgents.

It is a safe bet that any Arabic country that is our ally will face some acts of terrorism.

Hopefully they are rooting out, questioning and then killing those who would kill them before the terrorists can act.
