Posted on March 15, 2003 The Dixie Chicks may have the No. 1 country song in the United States right now with Travelin' Soldier, but you won't hear it on KRMD.
The station, whose frequency is 101.1 FM, has dropped all the Chicks' hits from its playlist, prompted by anti-war statements attributed to Chicks' lead singer Natalie Maines, said KRMD program director Bob Shannon.

KEYWORDS: antibush; dixiechicks; shreveport; station
It will be interested to see if economic pressure from the Dixie Chicks fans forces the station to put their music back on the air.

Called Lipton yesterday to complain about Lipton sponsoring their tour. Many stations not playing their music. Bump for the article.

Shreveport Stations "Way" or "Weigh"?
To: Theodore R.
I support this decision

No, this is a radio station.
To: Theodore R.
I realize that this thread is about a particular radio station...has anyone been watching the country video stations enough to know if the Vichy Chicks (love that one, but would those bimbos even know what it means?) have been showing?

(You may disagree with what I have to say, but I will defend to your death my right to say it.)
To: Theodore R.
It will be interesting to see if economic pressure from Dixie Chicks fans forces them to eat crow and issue a real apology, and not the half hearted one they tried to skate by with.

To: Theodore R.
You might want to ask the Admin Moderator to fix your title. Should be Station won't play Dixie Chicks songs after singer's remarks
To: Capt_Hank
I noticed that too. Guess I stop swtiching back and forth from CMT to GAC.
To: Theodore R.
Fox and Friends are about to discuss the Chix.

I don't think that the fans will sway the radio stations. Right now, they're being deluged by calls from outraged ex-fans who are telling the stations that they won't tune in if the Dixie Chicks' music is played on the station. So far, the anti-Chicks forces far surpass the fans. Time will tell, of course.
To: Theodore R.
I gress they were tried for being popular.

OK, now I can understand radio stations dropping their songs, but I think it crosses the line when the stations take it out on the girls personally. Apparently, one radio station--the call letters are KFC; I don't know where it's located--has actually started
torturing the Chicks (see below). To me, this is too much.

That headline is a way cool.

Original headline for posterior-ity, "Shreveport Station Way Dixie Chicks Songs after Singer's Anti-Bush Remarks"
To: Diddle E. Squat
The headline I wrote should have been: Shreveport Station Won't Play Dixie Chicks Songs After Singer's Anti-Bush Remarks.
I added Shreveport to the title to show the location and "anti-Bush" to show the nature of the dispute.
