TELL ME THEY AREN’T ANTI-AMERICAN
NEALZ NUZE ^ | March 12, 2003 | Neal Boortz

Posted on 03/12/2003 7:01:33 AM PST by conservativecorner

In Whittier, California, along Whittier Boulevard, you’ll find a memorial to the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11th. The memorial is build on a fence. The fence is on the private property of the The RV Center. Residents of the RV Center have been maintaining this memorial since shortly after the terrorist attacks.

Over the weekend some so-called “anti-war” demonstrators destroyed the memorial. They ripped up the signs, then tore out and burned the American Flags that were part of the display.

Police did nothing. Amazingly, a Whittier Police Captain named John Rees said that the demonstrators “were exercising the same freedom of speech that the people who put up the flags were.” This idiot (yes, idiot) police officer thinks that trespassing onto private property to destroy a memorial and burn flags is an act of free speech.

OK .. so the Whittier Police need some remedial education in private property rights. But what about the demonstrators? Do you want to tell me that these people aren’t anti-American? They destroy a memorial to the 3000 people killed on September 11th, and they’re not full of hatred for this country?

We could, of course, turn to a college professor for some help here. How about Les Howard, a sociology professor at Whittier College. Howard says “the incident might be an indication of some confusion among people trying to stop a possible war against Iraq but uncertain how to express their sentiments.”

Yeah … let’s make every excuse we can for the appeasers, just as we are for Saddam Hussein.

As usual, Neal is right on the money! These people should be, at the very least, arrested for trespassing.

The good news is that the memorial has already been restored and is much larger than before. It's also being guarded by private citizens who hopefully will be able to keep it safe, unlike the police.

Naming the wrong police force is pretty unforgivable, Boortz.

"Good Day L.A." (local channel 11) is reporting that a woman claiming to have done some of the damage (I suspect this is the "woman in pink"...see yesterday's thread) was arrested last night in connection with the vandalism. This information was not received by the police, but by a person on the scene.

I hope it's TRUE.

I can help them to express thier opposition to war. They can become HUMAN SHIELDS IN IRAQ!

They can express themselves and I get to laugh at them, its win-win!

This will definitely backfire on the anti-war crowd. A sincere thanks to all those hooligans.

I understand that the property owner of the RV Center was going to press charges against the woman who admitted she had a part in the vandalism(I mean peace protest?)that defaced the memmorial.

This protester vandal said she did this damage to bring unity to her cause for love and tolerance.

Another woman, this one restoring the memorial, pointed out that love and tolerance where the only reasons the flag burning vandal was able to be walking around on this very street corner.

It sure seems strange to me how destructive these peace protesters can be in making their statement against destruction.

Soldier

I want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody hands.

He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded from months of battle and emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war.

He stands though, with fire in his eyes and victory on his breath. He looks at us now in anger and disgust and tells us this...

I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the Constitution and now your children graduate too illiterate to read it.

I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains.

I left my family destitute to give you the freedom of speech and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be bad for business.

I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people.

It's the soldier not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.

It's the soldier not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.

It's the soldier not the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.

It's the soldier who salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag!!!

"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us. Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. I ask this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen."

Prayer Wheel:
When you receive this, please stop for a moment and say a prayer for our U.S. ground troops in Afghanistan, Kuwait AND all over this world.

I copied the article and posted it Whittier Police Dept and asked the Chief for Capt Reese home address so I may exercise my free speech rights.

Given the PDs inability to understand property rights they wont arrest me if I spray a few words on the good captains garage door.

"woman in pink"...see yesterday's thread) was arrested last night in connection with the vandalism.

The lady who has been caring for the memorial was interviewed on WLS this morning. She said that there had a real outpourring of support from the community and they had received twice as many flags to replace those destroyed.

Last night, there were about 50 people restoring the memorial when the "lady in pink" showed up. She walked right through the group taunting them and bragging that she had been the one who destroyed it in, as she put it, "the name of love and togetherness."

When she didn't get a rise out of the group that way, she assaulted three people, including the lady who created the memorial. As of this morning, she was still in jail, and all three will be pressing assault charges against her.
