There have been a lot of anti-freedom gun control bills introduced in the California legislature.

The worst are bills AB602 and AB992. These bills propose a 10 cent tax on each round, primer, bullet or casing sold in California.

Information on bills AB602 and AB992 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0601-0650/ab_602_bill_20030218_introduced.html

and here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0951-1000/ab_992_bill_20030220_introduced.html

Bill AB-50 will ban .50 BMG rifles. Information on AB-50 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=ab_50&sess=CUR&house=B&author=koretz

SB-190 - Would require all semi-auto handguns to have a chamber load indicator as well as an automatic trigger disconnect so the handgun cannot fire with the magazine removed. Information on SB-190 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/sb_0151-0200/sb_190_bill_20030212_introduced.html

SB-35 - Ballistic firearms identification on all guns. Information on SB-35 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/sb_0001-0050/sb_35_bill_20021210_introduced.html

SB-824 - Requires employees of gun shops to each obtain a California dealers license. Information on SB-824 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/sen/sb_0801-0850/sb_824_bill_20030221_introduced.html

AB-1190 - Bans dove hunting. Information on AB-1190 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=ab_1190&sess=CUR&house=B&author=nation

AB-342 - Bans training and use of hunting dogs. Information about AB-342 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0301-0350/ab_342_bill_20030211_introduced.html

SB-435 - Would change the training requirements for CCW applicants. Information about SB-435 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=sb_435&sess=CUR&house=B&author=knight

AB-396 - Bill would allow land use of private property contracted by the state for other activities other than hunting. (This bill must be watched as it may reduce the amount of land available for hunting in California.) Information about AB-396 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/pub/bill/asm/ab_0351-0400/ab_396_bill_20030214_introduced.html

AB-462 - Would expand the definition of "good cause" for issuance of a concealed carry permit to include victims of hate crime and domestic violence. Information about AB-462 can be found here: http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/postquery?bill_number=ab_462&sess=CUR&house=B&author=haynes

Citizens of California, write and call your representatives to tell them how you feel about these horrible control laws.

We always have proposed anti-gun bills. Davis had been loathe to sign many of them prior to his reelection. The repubs kill as many as they can. There are also a lot of dems from rural counties who won't step on the gun crowd. But.......... The dems now rule CA and Davis doesn't have to worry about reelection. I expect we will be seeing more repressive regulation. A form of the ammo tax is pretty likely. I visit my dad in Nevada and will buy all my ammo there if it comes to it.

They need an ammo tax (amongst many others) to raise money to continue support and aid for the "criminal invaders".

I buy my ammo over the internet, from Cascade Ammo. No tax.

Take names and BLOAT. Cache is king.

Learn reloading, equip and supply yourself, as if your life depends on it. Today's components have a long shelf life potential, until changes to primers and powder are legislated. Teach reloading to others now; it may be defined in law as criminal conspiracy.

At Mt. Carmel, Waco 1993, the XXX42 Bill's fed's attack on the Branch Davidians proved that the police power of the state will be unleashed in a hail of gunfire into a large church home full of men, women, and some 24 children. Your little home is easy pickin's for the police powers under a XX44 Hillary.

We must stand against enemies of our Constitution, both foreign and domestic. We know who they are. They certainly know who we are.

Had I read your reply as little as 10 years ago I would have catagorized you with the tin foil crowd.

California's recent legislative history has changed my mind.

From the lowly city council, through the state legislature to the US 9th Circuit, California's liberal fringe has determined to erase the 2nd Amendment in California.

I read your reply today and realize your predictions are more likely than not.

To all knowlegeable Freepers

How long should name brand ammo last in storage? I have a friend who has many boxes of 9mm rounds. They are stored in a cool, dry, dark place. Should my friend expect this ammo to be stable for 3 years, 7 years, 10 years... or do you suggest that my friend use this ammo up at target practice and replace it periodically?

This info would also be helpful if they pass this law, to know how much ammo my friend should stock up before the tax is implemented.

Also, is this information applicable to other size rounds, in case my friend buys a .38 or a .40 or .50 calibre handgun? And is it applicable to shotgun rounds?

Um, calling a cult compound run by a whackjob a "church" doesn't make it one, and there was nothing heroic about those idiot Davidians. They had every opportunity to end the matter peacefully, and failed to avail themselves of the chance.

There is no Constitutional right to have an armed standoff with your own government.

Hell yes! If you get caught providing the means and knowledge to manufacture ammunition when the Democrats don't want you to have any, just what do you think they will charge you with.

Now just so you won't think i'm holdin back, point your browser to some of these sites to see just how easy it really is to manufacture your own ammunition.

An Introduction to Reloading.

The Basic Rules for Reloading Safely

Virtual Reloading which will give you a look at the reloading operations in action. Step by step you can lean how to make your own.

Of course nothing is free! You will have to equip yourself with the basic tools of the reloader. For some fine (but somewhat pricy) equipment click here.

Reloading the .257 Weatherby ...in excruciating detail Part II Whether you choose to reload for your Hand Gun, Rifle or Shot Gun you can find more information about how it is done right on the internet. Don't be shy, ask someone with experience to let you watch them and in just a few minutes you will want to jump right in and do it yourself.
