WASHINGTON, Feb. 20 (UPI) -- Roughly 750 U.S. military personnel will deploy shortly to the Philippines to open a new front against the Abu Sayaff terrorist group on Jolo Island, assisting the Philippines Armed Forces in an unprecedented joint counter-terrorism operation, according to defense officials.

"...will include 350 special operations forces personnel
who will engage in direct combat with Abu Sayaff..." I hope they make a good first impression, and put all the
terrorists scum at the bottom of a smoking depression.
Exterminate the vermin.

This operation seems wholly consistent with the freedom of choice we Americans hold so dear. The jihadist scum can choose to to scatter and be hunted down and killed one by one by the Special Forces or they can consolidate their forces and be killed all at once by the Marines.

What a great statement!

Or if they get in one spot Navy Pilots will finish the job from 20,000 feet with guidance from the Special Forces!

The group will include 350 special operations forces personnel who will engage in direct combat with Abu Sayaff for the first time. Sounds like some real OJT for our Spec Ops Guys, and a real shift in tactics.

These murderous thugs have been running rampant across the country. In previous articles, it mentioned we had special ops already there.
These vermin won't know what's hit them. Do it quick and clean, "Thank-you".

but as many as 1,000 might have joined in the last two years to profit from kidnapping ransoms, according to the State Department. It sounds like an excuse to be part of a lawless mob. They would be called Anti-War protestors in America.

Oh man, those half baked jeepnee drivers zooming through the winding roads...Not to mention, the barrio. Loved how a shack was actually a bar in the off streets. It's also kinda hard to find monkey on a stick, chicken claws or balloomb here in the states..

I was actually part of Balikatan '02 last year. If the rules are same for the Marines there as it was for us Airforce guys last year, we were restricted either to base or the hotel right across the street from the base 24/7 No one went anywhere while I was there.
This was for a two fold reason; because it cut down a lot of the potential for trouble with terrorist, and because American soldiers walking the streets in the Philippines again would undermine Arroyo and make her look weak. So as part of the agreement, Americans kept a low profile there for the most part.
So, I imagine the Marines idea of a good time is not going to be a lot of site seeing.
