Don't know. But my best guess is that it was some form of reciprocation for help during the war--which doesn't mean that they couldn't be double agents, of course.

Algarawi said he believes Al-Hamdani moved to the Phoenix area from Lincoln, Neb. in 1997 I notice he doesn't say when he entered the country, so he could well be part of your group of resettled RG.
