"I guess people think he's [Chirac] in the lead of postponing of the war in Iraq," said a spokesman for France's embassy in Washington, who weaseled out of giving his name.

LOL!

Neither the person who nominated Chirac, nor their reason for doing so was disclosed, but the French leader presumably was proposed because of his efforts to prevent a U.S.-led war against Iraq.

Hmmmm .. any guesses who it might have been?

Jacques Chiraq getting the same prize as Jimmy Carter makes perfect sense to me.

Great news for Saddam Hussein!

Saddam is probably the one who nominated Chiraq.

"Jonah Goldberg, a National Review Online columnist who considers the French as "cheese-eating surrender monkeys," called their president's nomination for the $1 million prize "a joke."

That phrase is making the rounds, isn't it?

From info. from the 1970s, I wonder if Saddam wasn't Chiraq's homosexual lover -- and that Chiraq has been beholden to Saddam ever since...... really just wild, wild speculation on my part, but it has the perverse ring of truth to it.

Governor Ryan from Illinois has also been nominated for commuting the death sentences of 160 convicted killers. The Nobel Prize is a joke.

I dunno....I'm thinking that Mike Tyson should get the award. Perhaps he and Chirac can duke it out for the prize.
