Since the Republicans took over Congress in 1995, the budget has grown by 50 percent. If the Republicans are fighting a war against big spenders, the big spenders are winning.

Thank goodness algor isn't pulling these fiscal stunts, or I'd have to start writing letters and calling congressmen.

What's on tv?

I think you pointed out the alternative - fund defense as needed and cut out the liberal socialist junk.

Want to eliminate the deficit?

1) Eliminate the entire Dept of Commerce, except the Census Bureau and the Patent and Trademark Office (which actually makes money). Eliminate unnecessary, intrusive parts of the Census, making it less costly. Sell the empty office buildings.
2)Eliminate the department of education. Sell the empty office buildings.
3) Eliminate all new NEA and NEH funding. The "E" in each is supposed to stand for "Endowment," meaning it's supposed to stand on its own without adding money. Make them into private non-profits.
4) Eliminate the entire Dept of Energy. Sell the empty office buildings. If necessary, roll the nuclear energy commissions into the Dept. of Homeland Security.
5) Cap all farm welfare payments at $100,000 (well, it's a start).
6) Institute a government-wide hiring freeze until attrition eliminates 100,000 workers, who are not to be replaced.
7) Outsource a million federal jobs (Bush is doing this one).
8) Eliminate our multi-billion dollar welfare program for Israel--they may be our ally, but they are not a Third World country and they can tax themselves to keep their army going, same as we do.
9) Bring all U.S. troops home from Europe and close all of our bases there.
10) Devolve the EPA's responsibilities on state environmental agencies and eliminate the federal agency. Sell the empty offices.
11) Eliminate the Department of Transportation. Move all essential functions to Homeland Security. Sell the empty office buildings.
12) Eliminate all government-funded advertising campaigns.
13)Put a freeze on new welfare applications.
14) End the fiction of the Social Security Trust fund by simply writing off the fictional debt owed to it by the government (this eliminates a quarter of the federal debt). Reform the SS system for younger workers, and pay old people's promised benefits out of the general fund until attrition ends SS altogether.
15) Open ANWR and other drilling sites and sell drilling rights.
16) Institute a simple flat tax and lay off at least a quarter of all IRS workers.
17) Pass a line-item veto constitutional amendment for appropriations bills.

And that's just a start.

One of your many interesting links above, RUSH LIMBAUGH: BUSH "NO CONSERVATIVE", stands out the most, just yesterday, I heard Rush refer to Bush as "Conservative", I couldn't change the radio station fast enough. Talk about abandonong your principles, "Conservative?" as oppossed to whom? Blackbird.

Yep. I heard him saying stuff like "conservative republican president", "..an attack on conservative republicans" etc. I guess he's in full defense mode, trying to shore up the base. It may be too late, we (paleocons) are disgusted and outraged.

Old thread BUMP!
