There is a real sense of outrage growing amongst the American public about what the Democrats are doing, so please tell others that they can show their support for Miguel Estrada today by visiting:

Senate Democratic staffers are meeting every Monday with representatives from powerful liberal interest groups and lobbyists to seek advice on how to counter the White House.

Led by Democratic leadership staffers, the group meets each Monday on Capitol Hill for an hour to talk about current issues, and participants are allowed to discuss topics that are of interest to their constituencies. At the most recent meeting, for example, the judicial nomination of Miguel Estrada was discussed.

A recent Republican poll shows Rep. Jennifer Dunn (R) within easy striking distance of two-term Sen. Patty Murray (D) in a trial heat for 2004.

A poll conducted for the National Republican Senatorial Committee in late January showed Murray with 46 percent, Dunn with 42 percent and 12 percent of the voters undecided. The survey of 500 registered Washington voters had a margin of error of 4.4 percent.

Dunn is one of two House Members weighing a challenge to Murray next year, and is expected to announce her plans by the end of the month.

As Sen. Bob Graham (D) recovers from heart surgery and continues to press toward announcing a presidential bid before the end of the month, speculation about a likely open-seat race is on the verge of reaching a feverish pitch.

A Graham spokesman reiterated this week that the Senator will not seek re-election while running for president, which appears likely at this point.

Quote of the Day

Right now there is nothing to prevent us from taking a stand and voting up or down on Miguel Estrada other than the obstructionist delays being perpetuated by the other side. Sen. George Allen, R-Va.

Time to support the Republican Senators who are doing a great job of standing up for Estrada's nomination.

Signed and bumped.....

I hope the Republicans continue keep this on the table. Let the democrats become known as the ones not allowing an up or down vote on a nominee.

They are still in the semi-filibuster -- took a lunch break. Now Patty Murry is up!

We have a live thread going on about it at:

Also time to inform the public that this procedure is completely extra-constitutional. Senators filabustering are depriving the American people of the benefits of a complete judiciary.

The Constitution says the Senate is to "advise and consent" i.e. VOTE not obstruct through extra-constitutional means. Senatorial refusal to perform its constitutional duty (via self-imposed rules) deprives the people of their rights. Of course, if the Court ruled such it would be impossible to enforce. But we should be screaming from the rooftops.

Hopefully the RATS won't listen until they have severely damaged themselves.

PKMom, is there a transcript of the questions put to Miguel Estrada? If so they should be published here. Everyone call your senators and complain about the Tom Daschle obstructions and the party line about his not answering questions put to him. This lie must be put to bed now!

To: PhiKapMom; All
I signed the petition and just received a very nice note from Senator Allen.

Dear Friend:

I want to thank you for signing the petition of support for Miguel Estrada and for sharing your thoughts and feelings about the Democrats continued obstruction. It is through this sort of dialogue with Republican activists that the NRSC is able to communicate Americans' support for the President's nominees to the Judiciary.

Outrage, indignation, and annoyance; these are just a few of the sentiments which have been conveyed in the thousands of messages the NRSC has received from Americans regarding the Democrat's filibuster of Miguel Estrada.

It is obvious that Democrats did not learn anything from this past election, which is why we are determined to build on our Republican Majority and send another message to the Democrats.

In the past elections, the NRSC was highly successful in: recruiting top tier Republican Senate candidates, turning out the vote and promoting our Republican Senate candidates. These were key components to regaining a Republican Senate Majority and were made possible because we had the financial support of Republicans like you. We already have a plan in place to increase our Senate Majority, but its success is dependent upon our ability to gather contributions from as many individuals as possible, so please donate to the NRSC today via our secure online server. Donate

Together we can make America a better place to live, learn, work and raise our families. Thank you.

With warm regards, I remain

Gratefully yours,

Senator George Allen

P.S. If you have not already signed our petition you can still do so by visiting: Petition
