Seems to me that attractive women in relatively free societies (e.g., where women, and not their parents, choose whom they marry) have always had the upper hand in choosing a mate.

I really don't think the sly dig at the pharmaceutical company is entirely warranted in view of recent history. The advent of Viagra proved - somewhat embarrassingly to self-proclaimed experts - that in many men the problem wasn't psychological at all, merely chemical. If this is true for women as well then some will be helped by this and some will not. But it seems to me that counseling is no more a panacea than a little pill - patients are different. That's why we have doctors.

Here's a really radical idea - let's let women who actually suffer from this condition try the drug and get back to us. What a concept.

Right on. Perhaps then they wouldn't mind some "dessert" late at night after a rough day -- which is the usual excuse we all get.
