ATLANTA (AP) -- America's population of senior citizens is expected to double by 2030 to 71 million, and the nation needs to begin preparing for the demands they are going to put on the health care system, the government said Thursday.

"Public Health" hasn't a damn thing to do with it. More like the luck of genetics, access to better nutrition and eradication of smallpox, plague, etc. No one is going to live "forever", no matter what. I would rather stay in my own home all my life, rather than "longer" in some carpeted warehouse, and go on to the next life the Lord has planned for me while I still have a mind to think with, and a body that can still get around. I think a well lived life beats a longer miserable one. I don't really see gearing up for this mad rush to prolong life, if there are many others with this view out there-and I currently only have one friend who rushes for every advertised drug believing it will prolong his life, and improve it. If he were to loose about 110 pounds and eat some fresh cooked food instead of frozen and "instant-just add water" stuff , I think it might do more good, along with an attitude adjustment...but then, he is a liberal, after all.

It is a big jump. If government is taken out of the equasion things will be fine. If government tries to keep social security as it is, and provide medicare, it won't be able to handle it. Privatization is the way to go. I still say this is a sky is falling article. It needn't be.

Oh no. There will be twice the number of old ladies holding up the grocery store lines by arguing over the price of yogurt. However, sales of oversized overpowered luxury sedans should also see an increase.
