A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day....02-08,09-03...Week in Review

A Few of FR's Finest.....
......Every Day

FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders;  tell a few jokes;  learn a new word;  write poetry;  pray for those in need;  and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.

Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001

So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.

Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!

And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

To Our FReeper FRiends:   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our spotlight on various FReepers. We thought we'd kick back on the weekends and simply review those who've been featured during the week. If you missed seeing them and want to say hello to them now, feel free to click on the link to that particular thread. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today and tomorrow, please feel free to do that also. One of us will always be around to see the welcome mat is still out, and maybe even put fresh flowers on the table. :)

2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me an FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

God Bless Our Military

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Daisyscarlett; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nation’s leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~   ~~~~~~~~~~

We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Good morning - it's the weekend - time to sit down in front of the fireplace, wrap a blanket around you, grab a cup of coffee or hot chocolate, and just relax.

Looks like you all had a great time yesterday - I missed it, and am going to go see WHAT I missed!

Here's a little breakfast buffet for you...

Sumptuous Saturday spread, Billie, and the fire feels great on this cold day.
Thank you for the warm hospitality to get us in a relaxed mood.

I just posted on yesterday's thread to you other three before this new one appeared - -

Pausing to remember those on our growing prayer list for Active Duty Military Members of the Finest Family.
Be with each and every one, Lord, and their loved ones.
To Your loving care, we commit them.
Amen.

Speaking of feasts - - as always, you have provided one for our eyes, Aqua.
Trying to get me back to the mountains, aren't you?...:))

Living for years in North Carolina, I spent many an hour along the Blue Ridge Parkway in all seasons; just awesome.

Loved especially the summer rain storms, parked on an overlook with masses of dark clouds below my position, moving determinedly from left stage to right, bombarding the landscape beneath with jagged forks of lightning.

High drama!

STOP!

You're making me wish I could pick up and move to NC!

Course it wouldn't take much prodding but it does take having money and a new job in NC to do it! so I guess I'm stuck in the Peoples Republic of Maryland, UHG!

I was blessed to live in the middle of the state, Pippin.
Four years in Winston-Salem, and 16 in Greensboro later (Ohio and Panama City, Florida and Columbia, SC sandwiched in between).

The Piedmont section has beautiful rolling hills, with ease of reach of both the beaches on the coast and the mountains.

From Winston-Salem, I used to round up the neighborhood to go on picnics up on the Blue Ridge Parkway - cool our watermelons in a gentle stream that wound through a lovely park there.
The children (and adults on hot days!) were free to wade barefooted in the crystal-clear water, carpeted with smooth pebbles. The depth was only about six inches, and tiny fish zipped away from their clutches.

There were many grills provided under the trees alongside, shade for lazing on a blanket, and open fields for Frisbees and football and baseball.

Days of wonder, those convoys - - I can return there on these cold days and be exhilarated all over again.

Good morning Billie and all the rest. Blurr it's chilly this morning. We got 7 inches of snow last Friday. Most of it is melting away, but it's still chilly. We better do something about that global warming, LOL. Hope everyone is doing fine.

FreeThe Bastille, planting a very important thought on our topic of last night for you to consider.
It's needed to bolster the Grand Plan to FreeTheStatueofLiberty, per our discussion.

We are gaining in our endeavor to FreeThinMan (poor fellow) from blatant hassassment, by the way.

Although we should Freep the French Embassy on general principles, might we concede that in giving us said statue, they did, after all, place the torch in her right hand?!!

It's a conspiracy, I tell you!

Leave a reply in the fourth chink from the top in the brick wall by the fireplace;
right side, of course.

Laughing, I leave you briefly to do chores as Moppin' Maggie ~ ~

Hello, Teacup!
Imagine you are gone, it being quiet on the Home Front here, and I'm about to leave to do chores.

Caught your reply as I was going to sign off, and wanted to say we miss your presence here and hope you'll come back later.

Good morning everyone! I am getting ready to go to a Support Our Troops Rally here in town. Yesterday, one military officer called into our local radio station and said how much our support means to the men and women. :) In addition, there will be an even larger rally over in Bellevue today. I am happy to see conservatives demanding that they be listened to - about time. Have a wonderful day here on FR's Finest and I'll let you know how it goes :) Lovely description of NC, LadyX. Can we all come to your house for the next picinic?
Good morning FR's Finest! )

I am leaving a reply in the place you suggested.

I think this is a big problem that we've spotted. Rather obvious propaganda value here. Hmmmm. Well, I think what we have to do is free HER from her French background. She must become part of the melting pot. So, I think we should rename "right" "left" and "left" "right" so that her torch will be in the "right" hand.

This will annoy the French, who have been snickering for these many years at our failure to "get" their stupid joke.
