Yomiuri Shimbun of Japan reported in its Beijing dispatch on Feb. 8, 2003 that China successfully conducted the MIRV test on December, 2002, using Dong-Feng 21.
The report quoted Chinese sources as saying, "The missile launch test was conducted in mid-December last year at a PLA strategic missile base in Shaxi province, and MIRV technology was apparently employed."
This is apparently the first Chinese success of the MIRV missile test.
China is making feverish efforts to counter American Missile Defense technology and this shows that they made a meaningful progress, the paper reports.
China could not deploy MIRV missiles right away right after this successful test. But They could improve its accuracy and try to push for the early deployment of the missiles, the report adds.

Note: The article says the missile used was Dong-Feng 21. But it is possible that it is a typo. It may be Dong-Feng 31.
I welcome inputs from those who are versed in Chinese missiles.

Another example of why SATL defenses (stop at the launch-pad) are the way to go for missile defense. Defense units in Alaska are nice, satellites and or special aircraft to neutralize launch sites are better. Much easier to destroy a missile when it's engines are just beginning to fire than when it is falling on your head.

Note that this is my translation of the Korean article.Just to avoid confusion that this is the original article written in English.

I understand that they call this variety of MIRVed ballistic missile the "Bent-dong" in honor of their benefactor.

Versed in China, don't know a thing about missles.

While the ChiComs are MIRVing, the U.S. is downgrading its ICBMs to a mere one warhead per missile (under START ...... or some other ridiculous treaty).

How about capital punishment for these traitors-for-sale, Bill, Hillary, and their buttboy Terry McAulifee?
I would also like to know the true source of the $10 million+ given to the Clintons for their "book advances" for books no one will ever buy or read, as well as the precise origin of the $150,000 a night, three times per week, every week "speaker's fees" given to Bill.

Typo correction: Shaxi --> Shanxi
right away right after --> right after

Seeing how I don't know a thing about missiles, but based on what I do know this might be useless.
From my understanding a missile aimed at the US has to take off with a big plume of fire and go all the way up to space. Could take 5-10 minutes I would guess. Then the warheads come off and re-enter and land at the target.
If we blast the damn thing out of the sky by shooting at some big fireball, what is a MIRV going to do?
Unless they come up with a way to make a missle burn cold during launch I don't think this will help.

China could not deploy MIRV missiles right away right after this successful test. The Clinton legacy of death. It just keeps on giving (to the grim reaper!).

My resolution for 2003 was to never buy Chinese products. It has been difficult. But it is possible.
BOYCOTT CHINESE PRODUCTS
They mean us harm.
