John Edwards got Smoked on Hardball Tonight
Posted on 02/06/2003 7:20:48 PM PST by faithincowboys
Edwards is so not ready for prime time. Chris Matthews went after him and made him look like he couldn't get elected for dog catcher. Bubba's coaching hasn't done any good. Edwards got nailed for hypocrisy on the flag issue in SC, looked uncomfortable and came across unconvincing on foreign policy, and while pandering to the reflexively partisan crowd of North Carolina Central University(a historically black college, he suggested that President Bush was appointed by the Supreme Court and not legitimately elected. Waving the bloody shirt from election 2000 might help him in the primary season, but it will lose him votes among independents, conservative democrats, and liberal to moderate Republicans. The more I observe Edwards I am sure Clinton wants Edwards to lose. Clearly, the Clintons need the Dem nominee to lose in 2004 so Hillary can run in 2008.
Btw, the cynical use of black people by Democrats is getting so disgusting. Clinton probably picked NCCU. It is clear that the Democrat party would go the way of the Whigs if it failed to bamboozle 90% of blacks to vote for it.

Edwards lost his cool when quizzed on Iraq. BTW, he lost a lot of DUmmy votes with his answers. Remember, the far left loonies are the ones who turn out heavily in the Demmycrat primaries.

His mentor was on LKL and was absolutely hysterical-frantic to be important,as delusional as Jacko-he thinks he is still POTUS,hand waving, fast talking, totally inappropriate.I pray that clinton never stops advising the Democrats-we couldn't buy the kind of dysfunction he provides. The parallel between Jacko and clinton was stark-no one has the nads to tell Jacko is nuts and the same holds for clinton.

Gee, thats too bad. I had it on for a brief minute and needed to pass it by. It seemed as though Chrissy NEEDED him to do well but just couldnt help him across the finish line. She seemed surprised when Edwards said something to the effect that he supported President Bush on Iraq. Chrissy was stunned and silenced for a second, asked Edwards if he was ready to accept (personally) American deaths in Iraq. At that, I moved on, as should Edwards.
You're right, he's a pawn of the Clintons and believes their whispers in his ear. They just want to get their mitts on the ton of $$$ he can raise.

So much for him being able to "talk the owls out of the trees" or whatever it was the Raping Rhodes Scholar said about Edwards' doubled-tongued RAT speaking ability.

I saw a couple of minutes if impeached former POTUS. I didn't hear any phone calls taken - did he take any?

His "handlers" also have vowed never to let him anywhere new Tim Russert, after his embarassing performance on the show. Hmmm . . . if Edwards really keeps to that, won't it be really noticeable when he's the only no-show out of all the dem prez hopefuls? Unless he drops out, I'm predicting this is a vow that'll be broken.
Edwards must really be in trouble back home. How else to explain this near-ridiculous determination of his to run when he has no experience and has only been senator for like, what, 5 minutes? He's still a young enough guy, there's plenty of time, not to mention other dems much more qualified and more "deserving" (if I can use that term) of the nomination, so the only thing I can think of is he figures he won't be around as senator much longer--and that's certainly not cause he'll be prez.

Yes, and he's spent most of his time stumping around to gauge support for a possible Prez. run -- he hasn't been about the business of North Carolina in the slightest. But his greatest weakness has been obviously exposed by Matthews: the fact that he's (a) still wet behind the political ears; and (b) doesn't really have an original thought or conviction about any serious political topic.
I'm still concerned that Bob Graham of FL will run -- seeing this kind of performance (which isn't unexpected), he still might.

Edwards need serious speech therapy.
His tongue seems to get in the way when he gets nervous.
Nobody would want Sylvester the Cat to represent our nation.

You are right on the money in thinking that clinocchio wants opie to run and lose. Granted, right now opie is an empty suit/head but he comes in just the right packaging, which is sop for rat candidates: Stupid on the issues but oh so pro abortion and pro affirmative action.
If opie is not careful, he could lose his seat, let alone not win the primary.

I suspect Edwards will be out the race
by the end of the summer.

Clinton probably picked NCCU. Very likely. They had a lovefest for Clinton there in '92.
