Past Comes Back To Bite Local NAACP President

By Mike Keckler

BOISE - In December, Wade Dawson, President of the Boise-Ada-Elmore Chapter of NAACP, held a press conference with Idaho's senators during the Trent Lott controversy.

Now, it's Dawson who finds himself in the hot seat.

Saturday's Idaho Statesman reports that from 1976 to 92, Dawson served prison time in four states for forgery, falsifying documents for financial gain and grand theft.

The newspaper debunks Dawson's claim to have played both professional and college football, for the Oakland Raiders and the Michigan Wolverines - reporting that officials in both organizations have never heard of him.

The Statesman also says Dawson has tax liens filed against him both by the Internal Revenue Service and the Idaho State Tax Commission.

The revelations shocked many of Dawson's supporters.

"You would have to feel misled," says Charles Warren, a founding member and current second vice president of the Boise-Ada-Elmore Chapter of the NAACP. "I have great respect for honesty and integrity and a lot of things are taking place and honesty has not been demonstrated."

But Warren says he won't pass judgement and may give Dawson the benefit of the doubt.

Dawson we are told in deep in prayer and is withholding comment until early next week.

Senator Mike Crapo, (R) Idaho spent time with Dawson during December and issued a statement today. "I have been distressed by the revelations and will take the earliest opportunity to discuss them full with Wade....I wish him the best as he endeavors to fully disclose his past and trust that the NAACP leadership will work to keep the organizations strong in Idaho." wrote Crapo.

The NAACP is riddled with hucksters. It is the nature of the organization.

Wow! Did the crocodile get a good bite on Dawson's butt. He may bleed into disappearance.

Sometimes stereotypes are very accurate. Sometimes stereotypes are character flaws. When they are accurate they can save time, lives, and money.

That's nothing. Quite a few black "leaders" have done time for murder, attempted murder, or aggravated assault & battery. This guy should fit right in.

Black conservative ping

If you want on (or off) of my black conservative ping list, please let me know via FREEPmail. (And no, you don't have to be black to be on the list!)

Extra warning: this is a high-volume ping list.

Being a charlatan does not disqualify anyone from prominence in the NAACP; it would be far more noteworthy to report he wasn't a charlatan. Besides they probably had to dig deep to find any warm body to head the org. in Idaho.

What no blame Bush Ashcroft Cheney Lott or Whitey in this? I am shocked!!! If we had gave this brother reparations maybe he would not have mislead everyone at the NAACP. Someone call Julian Bond quick.

"He may bleed into disappearance...."

You're joking, right?
This clown perfectly reflects the current base of the NAACP.
The "Something for Nothing" crowd....
The NAACP is the "I want it NOW - by whatever means necessary (except work)" parasite club.

Very serious deception -- material for a Tom Hanks/Steven Speilberg movie?
< /sarcasm>

Congrats to the Idaho folks for exposing this.

He's a fine representative of the NAACP and many blacks would agree, defending him to the hilt. Besides, what other kind of "honest" job could he get?
