Currently being investigated by the French Anti-terror police. Basilica has been evacuated.
Packaged, a black bag, was found by a tourist. It contained incendiaries, but no detonation device. Investigation continues.

AP BACKGROUND:
An official at the church said the landmark, which overlooks Paris, was evacuated after what she described as a "suspect package" was found Tuesday morning.
Europe-1 radio reported a tourist discovered a black plastic bag containing three bottles of natural gas, a gallon of gasoline and four containers of detergent at the church. Anti-terrorist police were leading the investigation, the radio station said.
Sacre Coeur, which sits on Montmartre hill, is one of the most visited tourist sites in all of France, drawing 8 million visitors last year.

Did you mean to say, Sacre blew?

Guess they were going to start off the next mass with a bang?

The last time I was in Paris, before entering a lot of tourist sites, people were searched, wanded, and any "weapons" held outside. It surprises me that this bomb made its way into the basilica.

I attended Mass there two months ago.
It is an incredibly beautiful church.
I hope the gendarmes toss the bastards who did this down to the base of the Basilica steps (about 500 feet).

Dare I speculate: "Religion of Pieces?"
Three gas cannisters and four plastic bottles containing substance now being evaluated. Found near a confessional.

Police of local commissariat of 18th arrondissement were first to respond. Not a 'red alert' situation, not even on Paris radio news. -- FoxNews

The last time I was in Paris, before entering a lot of tourist sites, people were searched, wanded, and any "weapons" held outside. It surprises me that this bomb made its way into the basilica. A determined individual make a easy entrance into the basilica via the crypt / relicquary(sp). This is a public area under the main chapel and it infrequently visited. If there was any security at the church, it may have been focused on the main entrances to the chapel.

Some of the French cities are 15% Moslems now. Their liberal policies over the years like ours are coming to bit them in the butt!

France should just stick to being uppity perveyors of cheese and disregarded as a going concern.
