'Undeclared' may skew affirmative action numbers

I read the recent article on the U.S. Supreme Court considering the issue of affirmative action once again "Affirmative action reconsidered," Dec. 3, page A-10). The article reports the argument made by University of Michigan law school in support of their biased admission policy, which they wish to retain. In the statements they cite the widely distributed, but never reviewed "facts" about the drop in minority admissions at University of California at Berkeley. This fact is frequently cited in newspaper articles on the subject, but never investigated properly.
