Silent No More: Women Speaking About Abortion
U.S. Newswires ^ | 1.8.03

Posted on 01/08/2003 1:46:08 PM PST by victim soul

After 30 years of legalized abortion, women from coast to coast who have had abortions will gather in January at state capitols and in Washington D.C. to speak about their experience. Many of the women will share their stories while others hold signs that read "I Regret My Abortion."

The Silent No More campaign will tell the truth about abortion's emotional, spiritual and physical consequences.

Actress, model and author, Jennifer O'Neill, is joining the Silent No More Campaign as their national spokesperson. As a woman who was forced to have an abortion, Ms. O'Neill understands the pain, "To have the opportunity to encourage and comfort the hearts of women who have suffered is humbling, and making the whole truth known about abortion is absolutely necessary."

"We are the voice that hasn't been heard," said Georgette Forney, Executive Director of NOEL, and a co-founder of Silent No More who had an abortion at age 16. "There is a lot of talk about rights and choice, but very little attention is given to women who have abortions.

I regret my abortion and I know others who feel the same way. After 30 years it's time to listen to us -- the women who have experienced it."

Silent No More will reach-out to women suffering from their abortion experience. Many women can't acknowledge their pain because they are fearful they will be condemned or that their feelings will be dismissed, while others are convinced that they are the only ones hurting.

Susan Renne Mosley, Founder of Celebrating Grace and a co-founder of Silent No More who had an abortion at age 15 said, "It's time to speak honestly about the pain we've lived with, we want to help other women who are hurting from abortion find peace. This campaign will let them know they're not alone, they don't have to live their life in pain, there is hope. We've found help and they can too. They need to know about the programs, books and resources available to help them."

Silent No More events will be held in every state capitol between January 17-25; and in Washington, D.C., on January 22.

As a woman who was forced to have an abortion....

I'm glad she's speaking out; however, I do have a problem with this claim.

why? If she was a teenager when she had it, her parents could have very likely "forced" her to have one. (guilt trip, threats, etc)

I don't know if this program is still around; it is called WEBA (Women Exploited By Abortion). Many women, especially when Roe v Wade first condoned abortion, were not given enough info, and subsequently were sorry for their decision. Not only because of depression later, but big time nightmares for what they had done. These abortionists ought to GET A REAL JOB, and quit sucking out a living by victimizing women.

You think she's lying about having been forced to have an abortion?

Can't wait to see the hateful counterprotests.

Yes. Like the venomous hate of much of the "gay" community cast at those who gave up the horrific lifestyle.

You think she's lying about having been forced to have an abortion?

I can certainly believe that she was put under tremendous pressure (by somebody) to have an abortion, and that she buckled under that pressure.

However, I think she walked in under her own power, laid herself down on the table, and underwent the procedure without being restrained.

So my problem with the statement is that it appears to be an attempt on her part to deny her own role in the matter: she could always have said "no," and I have to think it wouldn't have taken place. I suspect she knows this, and it's a bit too painful for her to discuss, even now.

That said, I don't want to sound too judgemental -- she's a Christian, she's forgiven, and she's doing something good.

(According to one bio, her life was an absolute mess for years -- perhaps her teen-aged suicide attempt is related to the abortion. Sounds to me like Jesus has done for her what he did for Mary Magdeline)

Please disregard the tag line on my last -- apparently it doesn't clear itself from one post/thread to the next.

Want to get a pro-abortion feminazi into a frenzy?

Ask her if there are any psychological consequences to an abortion...

"I Regret My Abortion"

"Can't wait to see the hateful counterprotests. "

Boy, doesn't that make you wonder! Think of what the leftists might put on their own posters:

- "That child did not deserve to live!"

- "You vill be happy about your abortion vether you want to or not!"

- "We might be pro-choice but we do not accept your decision to speak out against abortion!"

Does anyone else have any ideas for the counter-protestors?
