WASHINGTON - One delicate problem that had to be sorted out before Republicans tapped New York for their 2004 convention was Mayor Bloomberg's sometimes rocky relationship with the White House, GOP sources say. "One question in [Bush political guru] Karl Rove's mind was whether it would be easy to work with Bloomberg and his team," said a Republican source.

Quite true. There is a lesson here for those who always want everything their own way, however.
Despite Bloomberg's failures as a mayor (and he is starting to amass quite a list) the President and the RNC slected New York for the good of the people of New York and for the RNC as a whole.
Now hopefully Bloomberg will take a cue from this and try to figure out how to help from his end.

I love this. What does it say about Hillary!? She didn't bring the Democrats home. Isn't she supposed to be such a big power in the party? I wonder what NYorkers are thinking.

In fact, Bloomberg committed a protocol blooper before taking office when the president visited New York in November 2001 - and Bloomberg, then mayor-elect, forgot to even mention Bush while every other official praised Bush to the skies. I saw Bloomberg on TV today when he remarked upon NYC being chosen. Now only a short clip was shown so I don't know what else he might have said, but in what I saw, he said something to the effect of it being a good choice for the republicans to spread their message. That really caught my attention, the fact that he said "their" and not "our" message. Well, we all know Mike is a big time RINO in the purest sense, and a craven politico in his reasons for being one in the first place. That was just a sort of Freudian slip of where his true loyalties lie.

Hopefully, New Yorkers are thinking that they have an obnoxious junior senator who is a member of the minority party and who couldn't even get her own party's convention to New York, even after 9/11.

.....New Yorkers......have an obnoxious junior senator who is a member of the minority party and who couldn't even get her own party's convention to New York, even after 9/11...... Something New Yorkers should be reminded off at every opportunity.

Bloomingbarf is about to discover how out of the loop he really is. The Bushies will be polite, but nobody'll pay much attention to him. The few pesky, pro-abort Pubbies hangers-on are viewed as outsiders.

So Roland Betts is a Demonrat? I've seen him in interviews and discussions, biographies of President Bush, but this is the first I've heard of him being a Demonrat!! How in any moral, conscientious sense can he be a Demonrat?? It's personal, that party is out to destroy Bush at every turn and is led by radical lefties and Betts is a Demonrat??!! Amazing.
To: bushfamfan
This is not a defense of Betts or Dimocrats......but 1964 Dims were not half as radicalized as they are today.

King Bloomberg has banned smoking and is working on plastic water guns (even brightly colored ones).
He has raised just about every tax imaginable while not firing a SINGLE city worker (hes even giving them raises despite a 5 BILLION dollar budget deficit).
This miskayt and his lousy city isn't worthy of the GOP's presence come 2004, and I'm sure Mad Mike Bloomberg and his evil demented socialist crook minions will stab W in the back the first chance they get.
