ITHACA -- Thirteen demonstrators were taken into custody Saturday after occupying the foyer of a military recruiting office for more than an hour.

The group's supporters, about 60 people dressed in black, marched peacefully outside the office at the Cayuga Mall on Triphammer Road, protesting the United States' and Britain's stance toward Iraq.

"We are sticking up for the Iraqi people, and the 500,000 children who have starved under economic sanctions."
Other than that the 500k figure is an urban legend, how is protesting for Saddam helping out these people? Don't these protesters know that dictators couldn't give a flying f* about that you, or his people think? The only thing that they understand, and the only thing that will get them out of power, is force.
Aren't these the same people that would get beat up by playground bullies? Did reasoning with them help? Bond together to present him with a statement of grievences? No, you go to the principle and let them take care of it by force.

"...demonstrators...lay down in the entranceway..."

Way to go you Doves - lay down and let the World's Worst walk all over you. As if your Priviledge to protest is a matter of chance. Well, I'm not going to sit down and die because YOU have no courage - pompous twits.

Freedom isn't Free. Try to grasp that reality.

"Pompous Twits" - har har.

But what isn't funny is how these people don't get it. Reasoning with Hitler didn't work either. Good ol' Chamberlain hung his head in shame after letting that dictator walk all over him because he knew his olive branch tactics were useless. Churchill had to grab the bull by the horns to settle things with him. Hussein is no different.

These human doves think they're laying down their lives for humanity when it's our military laying down their lives to protect the doves. If I write anything more, I'll get vulgar.

Do they have "No War With Iraq" signs on the lawns like they do by Syracuse University?

ITHACA -- It's tax day for most Americans, and Mary Loehr of Ithaca still hasn't filed her federal income tax return. That's nothing new for Loehr; she said she hasn't paid federal taxes in 18 years.

Loehr, and perhaps 10,000 other Americans object to their money being spent on bombs and guns, and refuses to pay federal taxes as an act of civil disobedience.

Loehr is the director of the National War Tax Resisters League, headquartered in Ithaca.

"We're not evaders, we're conscientious objectors," Loehr said.

-----------
Time to arrest, convict and imprison the tax cheats.

Reminds me of several years ago in Eugene, Oregon (Ithaca's twin almost) someone got fed up and paid for a billboard that called Eugene "Taxmore and Gomorrah"!!

This article is proof that if people don't want to get it, they won't.

Reminds me of my (ultra ultra) liberal sister....A couple of years ago when Australia took peoples' guns away, naturally the murder (by firearm) rate went way way up. When I tried to point this out to her, she got mad, refused to listen. She literally did not want to hear the facts. Liberals do not want the truth. Ulitamtely they are rebelling against God, the Ultimate Truth, so therefore they don't like truth.
(I know I am painting with a broad brush, but the basic point is generally true IMHO.)

Following the incident, the recruiting office was closed for the day.

Probably to disinfect the office.

These seditious people need to have their citizenship revoked.

Those in the military serve to protect freedom of speech, even especially when that speech is disagreeable. Your comment strikes at the very heart of American rights and freedoms.

It would seem that the safety of prospective recruits is just as important (maybe more important) than a woman seeking an abortion at an abortion death camp. Why couldn't the 200' rule, or whatever it is, also apply to recruiting offices? Also, there had to be organizers. Can someone say "RICO?"

Free speech is not trashing a recruiting office and sabotaging government equipment (such as the submarine). Their actions could directly and indirectly put our troops in harm's way and give aid and comfort to our enemies. Thats sedition. Go take a look at their website and tell me again how this is free speech.

If thats the case, then Jefferson Davis was just exercising his right to "free speech" as well.

Defense is the ONE thing that my tax money should go to.

They could NIX EVERYTHING else in the budget and just spend money on defense and I would be A VERY HAPPY CAMPER!!

If I were a judge, give them a choice of 5 years in prison, or, 2 years in the Marine Corps. Fair deal for all involved. Oddly, that's what most of those punks need - and the elderly folks can play funeral detail for all the World War II, Korea and Vietnam veterans who are passing away.
