NANCY PELOSI Echoes Democrat Talking Points (You're Going To Hear These For The Next Two Years!)
Fox News Channel ^ | December 20, 2002 | N/A

Posted on 12/20/2002 8:28:29 AM PST by Illbay

Nancy Pelosi just made a public statement on the resignation of Lott. Not TWO SENTENCES into the statement, she mentioned the election in Georgia where, she claims "the Republicans exploited white racist sentiment about the Confederate flag." This comes on the heels of similar statements by Bill Clinton yesterday. Batten down the hatches, folk. If you're a conservative and a Republican, you're going to be a "racist" for the next two years!

I've often stated that conservatives, especially Republicans, are foolish to try to make support of inconsequential issues like the Confederate flag an issue at all. But whether they do or not, the Democrats are emboldened by the Keystone Kops reaction of the Republicans to the criticism of Lott's comments.

As I stated at the time this flap began--and this has been absolutely shown to be true already--the Democrats are now going to inject race into EVERY SINGLE ISSUE that comes before Congress.

Everything from tax cuts to social security to defense to abortion is going to be cast as "Republicans trying to harm minorities."

All of you need to remember this in the future, and at some point we have to draw a line in the sand.

Over at DU they are saying that the RATS should bring up the confederate flag for the next two years. Seems Clinton has written the policy and it has been faxed out to the mouthpieces.

The Democrats have always said this. They've always said we starve children and put old people out on the street. The public doesn't buy it. They judged Lott based on Lott.

I'm so glad Nancy Pelosi brought it up. Let the race baiting Dems go to work turning off the rest of the country every time they appear on TV for the next two years. I say to Pelosi: bring it on!!!

"Blacks are the glue that holds the Democratic Party together."
...Michael Barone

After the losses in the last election, Democrats need a little more glue, a lesson learned in their one significant victory in Louisiana.

It just goes to show you that democrats have no solutions or plans, none at all.

Exactly right. This is just getting srarted. They finally have an issue. Republicans are all racists and Racial McCarthyism. and their going to play that one note symphony as long as they can.

And republicans can let Lott go. fine but they are going to have to stand up and fight this crap now. Its time it stopped once and for all.

Everyone: Don't let the hysterical Dems bother you. Frist will do fine, remember, it's BUSH's agenda and he just needs leaders who will work for his agenda.

If Rove wanted Frist it means that Frist will work very well for Bush.

Lott's resignation will put this to bed, sheeple have short memories and something will come along to distract the media like, say a war with IRAQ.

THE GREAT NEWS: We have the majority for at least 2 years and the Republicans will do good things, among those things are appointing alot of conservative judges and hopefully a couple of justices of the SCOTUS..

Agreed. Lott has burst the Dems' bubble by resigning. The Dems have no poster boy for their cries of racism now and so the public won't buy it. I think they are caught with their pants down because they didn't think Lott would resing or be overthrown. Pelosi still used the talking points but this won't last long. I watched her presser and the comments on Georgia seemed forced and out of context to me. Let them try to make a national issue out of the Georgia state flag. It just makes their lack of a real policy agenda even more apparent.

I tried to write down what she said as she said it:

The republicans used the confederate flag as an issue in Georgia to divide voters....(and here was the kicker)..."The Republicans AND the President should dismiss racisim once and for all...."

I hate this bitch...

The Confederate flag WAS an issue in the last election. There is simply no disputing that fact. That being said, the rest of your post is absolutely correct. When and how do we "draw a line in the sand"?

In their zeal to entice the remaining 6% of the black electorate into joining them, they'll alienate 20% of independent whites.

The math is not in their favor in this equation.

What have we been saying for the past few years?!? And now you want to draw a line in the sand? It's a little late for that. Meet the new GOP you have created. Now the only discussion will be on who is more PC and who can dole out more to the subjects

Dem's will certainly overstep their bounds again and again. In fact, if they really wanted to play the race card, why would you go after a worthless SML like Lott. Why not go directly for GWB? I think the more dem's talk about how racist the 53% of the electorate that voted republican in 2002, the more they turn everyone off. Nancy Pelosi, what the hell would she know about racism. If she ever came out of her lily white privileged life I would be shocked.

They will play that tune like a broken record and wear it out, it will back fire eventually, just like all the DNC talking "points"...This will just energize the conservitive base...The hypocracy is laughable. They have no real issues.Running on a almost racist remark is weak.

ATTENTION DU AND OTHER SOCIALIST DEMOCRATS: I am a straight white male from Georgia whose family has been here for the better part of 200 years and I do not give a damn about the confederate flag. I know of no one of a similar background to mine that gives a damn about the confederate flag. You would think that I, being that most reviled of all creatures in the social democrat universe, a straight white male from the south, would care about that flag, but I DO NOT AT ALL.

Get over it. It does not matter. It is not why democrats were tossed out in the last election. The more you focus on this issue the more out of tune you are with what really repulses us to your policies.

On second thought, please continue to focus on it, because the more you focus on irrelevant things the more irrelevant you are.

If you're a conservative and a Republican, you're going to be a "racist" for the next two years!I saw Bill Sneider on CNN Around 10:45 AM EST tag the republican party as racist and gives the reasons.

Has anyone got the exact words he used? It is pretty damning of his anti republican rant, and worth taking him to task on the statement.

His exact words are better than anything I could paraphrase.- Tom

Exactly. This Pelosi spiel is a non-issue.
