Enough is enough, it's time to bring NYC to it's knees, tell everyone you know to cancel trips there and to Killiforniacate

(I don't smoke) These fools will drive away convention business and other visits but I don't think they really care. On the whole NYC will become more impoverished. They
just better not ask for another Fed bailout ..... Because California has first
dibs.

You will see bars start marketing as "private clubs" with a membership fee at the door !
Utah has a bunch of them so they can serve booze !

This guy has raised taxes on commuters, smokers, and everyone he can think of to tax. Now he is taking freedom away. Smokers should go on strike in NYC, buy black market cigs and smoke them anyway.

Is anyone going to sue over this GD law?

Great Thread....I agree...the man is a menace to society...and that's no JOKE!

Mike Bloomberg, the NAZI Mayor of NEW YORK CITY takes smokers rights away (My Title)What rights would those be exactly?
Enough is enough, it's time to bring NYC to it's knees, tell everyone you know to cancel trips there and to Killiforniacate
HA! In your dreams. California is the #1 travel destination in the country but you left out Texas...They're trying to be the model for smoking bans now.
To: america-rules
Nope, Smoking is banned in Private clubs also under this Nazi unless the private club has no employees.

Here is something to consider. If smoking did not exist on the face of the earth and then it was "discovered" or "invented", and the new adherants wanted to make it OK to smoke in the same places where it has been done for years, would a law prohibiting it on the basis of health be logical? If not, why not?

Mayor Bloomberg for one thing is a very wealthy man. He does not know that NYC is basically a city where people go out at night to socialize. New York is the number one place in the world for stageshows (Broadway) and all sorts of entertainment. Bars and restaurants are places where adults go who can make up their own minds what is good for them or not.

Good title. I've read several articles detailing the anti-smoking campaign of Nazi Germany. There is also a good quote by CS Lewis constrasting the difference between a tryant that murders people and a tryant that does things for peoples' own good. In essence Lewis favored the murderous tyrant.

Of all tyrannies a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The Humanitarian Theory of Punishment, Res Judicatae (June 1953).
This is the quote I was referring to.

NYC has always been a haven for bootleg cigarettes. Bloomburg just gave the market the biggest boost it has had for years. The mob used to hi-jack tractor trailers loaded with cigarettes and seel them on the streets.

Can we all agree to not flippantly throw around that word Nazi. To describe the relatively powerless, democratically elected mayor of an American city as a Nazi is
extremely insulting to those of us who had parents (that would be me) or other loved ones who were actually in Nazi Germany in the 1940s and had their lives in peril.
Try to keep things in perspective. Having your cigarettes taken away is utterly petty compared to being locked away in a concentration camp and gassed to death!
I would hope you might retract your headline and apologize.

Hey! we got a republican.

"Once the principle is admitted that it is the duty of government to protect the individual against his own foolishness, no serious objections can be advanced against further encroachments."
Ludwig von Mises
Some of the Austrians figured it out long ago. We have chosen protection over freedom, so we get neither.
