‘Way Out There With Them!’

Columnist Michelle Malkin finds home amongst local immigrant-bashers

by Gustavo Arellano

Malkin

The way the young woman with the flaming-red hair sees it, the War on Terror should make an immigrant-hater out of any leftist.

"I thought I used to be liberal," the Fullerton resident says, her backpack a marquee of her abandoned politics—a rainbow patch and an alien giving the peace sign. "I used to believe in welfare, peace and helping out the poor. But if you allow unfettered immigration, this is what happens."

She points to an anti-immigration pamphlet with a picture of the exploding Twin Towers.

Such reasoning finds an especially receptive audience at meetings of the fanatically anti-immigration California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR).

The former liberal was one of about 250 people who packed CCIR’s Garden Grove meeting room Nov. 27 to hear syndicated columnist Michelle Malkin promote her new book, Invasion: How America Still Welcomes Terrorists, Criminals and Other Foreign Menaces to Our Shores.

In the book, Malkin goes after the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Muslims and Latinos. She dismisses claims that anti-Muslim hate crimes rose after Sept. 11 (Muslims, she said, invoked a "hate-crime mantra") and blames Latino day laborers for the Twin Towers attack.

A Filipina-American, Malkin is best known hereabouts for her opinion column, syndicated for three years in The Orange County Register. But she has won national celebrity for her role as a kind of female Clarence Thomas. She recently explained Christina Aguilera’s new look as the bitter fruit of a "radical feminist sexual liberation" movement that has produced "a generation of shameless skanks." She has blasted indigenous Hawaiians’ efforts to gain U.S. tribal recognition by observing, "Some people will do anything to get their hands on federal wampum."

Like fellow model minorities Thomas Sowell, Dinesh D’Souza and Linda Chavez, Malkin’s hostile attitudes make her a darling of white conservatives, and her photogenic face ensures regular appearances on talk shows.

Malkin took the stage after being introduced to a who’s-who of local anti-immigrant activists (including infamous Anaheim cop Harald Martin, who later in the evening would call his police chief a "coward"). CCIR chairwoman Barbara Coe—dressed in a baptism-day white blazer—noted that Malkin was "born to Philippine parents who came to the U.S.—legally, I might add." Much applause ensued.

"You here know full well or probably more than any other region of the country that this illegal invasion has been taking place a lot longer than Sept. 11, 2001," Malkin began dramatically. "If not, then your eyes were opened for the first time when those planes hit the buildings that killed thousands of Americans on American soil. Illegal invaders have been doing that for a long time."

She spent the remainder of her 20-minute speech faulting the mainstream press for ignoring illegal immigrant-caused murders. ("They’re all too happy to tell the sob stories of poor illegal immigrants," Malkin asserted. "We get plenty of those stories. And how come those journalists get Pulitzer Prizes?!") She frequently seemed on the verge of tears.

Malkin repeatedly stressed that she wasn’t anti-immigrant, just anti-illegal invader. "Not only is [illegal immigration] the ruination of us culturally and economically, but what an insult it is to all the naturalized citizens here!" she told the mostly white audience, many wearing stickers proclaiming themselves "citizen." But Malkin proceeded to mock these same "good" immigrants—because as a good minority, she can. She told jokes about Ethiopians and—in the interests of equal time—a similar howler about a Swede.

Having built her rapport with the audience on a foundation of ethnic jokes and terror, she concluded with a story about her trip to Orange County: "When I told people I was coming here, there were some people from the mainstream media who said, ‘You shouldn’t go there. Those people are way out there,’ they told me. And I said, ‘I’m way out there with them!’"

Gustavo Arellano hardly leaves one hair of Michelle Malkin's out of place, but this feeble hit piece is the sort of thing that makes many GOP leaders tremble like startled mice.

It;s gonna get ugly, but we knew that anyway.

It seems that the author [and his editor] conveniently MISSED the operative word here...
Please allow me you to HELP you, Gustavo.
What you SHOULD HAVE written was:

...and blames Latino day laborers for the Twin Towers attack.

This came completely out of left field, and was never followed up. Obviously, Malkin has never said any such thing.

From the FULL TEXT of Michelle's remarks, posted by Mercuria:
"...As I illustrate in the book, I don't know how many times I can repeat the connection which was illustrated on September 11, of illegal alien day laborers who are able to hang out at the nearby 7-11, a stone's throw from the Pentagon, who traffic in fake documents, and that is exactly where the September 11 hijackers knew to go! They knew exactly where to go. They waited around with a couple of twenty dollars bills, and this illegal alien from El Salvador was quite happy and willing to give them the documents that they needed to board the planes that they flew into buildings that killed those thousands of Americans.

The local cops, who I interviewed, admit that those people who were hanging around there are there illegally, but they're not going to do anything about it. And they're not doing anything about it now. I visited that same 7-11 a year after the September 11 attacks, and they're all still there. And nobody's doing anything about it.

And to add insult to injury, the Pentagon has been rebuilt. Did you know who the federal government paid to help rebuild the Pentagon? They admitted that illegal aliens helped rebuild the Pentagon, at the sacred, hallowed ground where thousands of Americans died, not just there of course at Ground Zero as well. As a result of lax immigration enforcement. I couldn't think of anything more slanderous and defamatory. What a desecration that is. But hey, it was cheap. We paid for it...

November 15, 2002

A generation of skanks

"Look, Mama, she's naked!"

I'm waiting in line at the newsstand with my very observant 2-year-old daughter, and she is pointing to Rolling Stone magazine.

On the cover is 21-year-old singer Christina Aguilera, sprawled on a red velvet blanket. She is wearing black leather boots, black nail polish, one studded bracelet, ratty hair extensions, and as my child has so innocently noted, nothing else. Aguilera's privates are strategically hidden behind a guitar; her backside is tastelessly, tritely, exposed.

The article lays bare all the silly, sordid details of Aguilera's new album (appropriately titled "Stripped"), her new hardcore music video (titled "Dirrty," with an extra "r" thrown in for, you know, edge) and her transformation from bubble-gum, Mickey Mouse Club member to foul-mouthed vixen. The young woman who once sweetly warbled the theme song to the Disney movie "Mulan," now grunts and writhes in a thong and kneepads, thrusting herself onto every moving object in her way, while "singing" the following "lyrics":

Ah, dirrty (dirrty)

Filthy (filthy)

Nasty, you nasty (yeah)

Too dirrty to clean my act up

If you ain't dirrty

You ain't here to party (woo!)

DJ's spinning (show your hands)

Let's get dirrty (that's my jam)

I need that, uh, to get me off

Sweat until my clothes come off

In a pathetic attempt to prove that this is not just a made-for-TV act, Aguilera has been spotted around New York City re-enacting her "Dirrty" video in popular nightclubs. The New York Post's gossip page even launched a "Christina Aguilera Skank Watch," which tracked her recent visits to local strip clubs, where she "got lap dances," "fondled the breasts of a buxom stripper" and "was spotted cuddling with some sexy female friends at a 'Drunk Love' party."

"F--- the pretty," Aguilera retorts when asked by the Rolling Stone reporter about her tamer, younger years as a teen idol.

"F--- the dessert -- where's the tequila?" she exclaims, apropos of nothing.

Aguilera's other favorite f-word is "flava." As in: "I want the boys with the flava." Explaining why she doesn't usually date "white boys," Aguilera expounds with faux ghetto flair: "He's got to have some flava and edge to him. I don't discriminate because of color. I actually dated my first one recently. I put some cream in my coffee." Flava lover Aguilera herself is paler than vanilla ice cream when not slathered in coffee-colored, self-tanning lotion.

"I don't see anything wrong with being comfortable with my own skin," Aguilera snaps defensively, as she strikes another gangsta pose and shows off her ridiculous body piercings -- which Rolling Stone has painstakingly diagrammed for the masses.

As I am returning the trashy magazine to the newsstand rack, my toddler chirps in again: "Mama, where's her shirt?"

I answer: "Her mama forgot to tell her to put one on." My daughter, naturally, has a follow-up question: "Well, where's her mama?!"

That's exactly the question I ask myself whenever we encounter some young Aguilera look-a-like and her friends hanging out at the mall with their thong straps glittering out in the open, their hip-huggers succumbing perilously to the forces of gravity, their noses and eyebrows and tongues marred with metal, and their faces plastered with red light district makeup.

Where were their mamas -- and dadas -- to teach them that slutty is not sexy? Gutter talk is for vagrants, not for young ladies who want respect from the world. Promiscuity isn't a sign of maturity. It's a sign of self-loathing. Being "comfortable in your own skin" doesn't require having to bare every last inch of it in public...

But she has won national celebrity for her role as a kind of female Clarence Thomas.

Ah, the liberal mindset laid bare. If one is not pasty-white, one must adhere to liberal orthodoxy or be shunned as a traitor.

Gawd, this screed pegs the bias meter:

The way the young woman with the flaming-red hair sees it, the War on Terror should make an immigrant-hater out of any leftist.

This is not about hating immigrants. It is opposition to ILLEGAL immigrants. But then again, these are the same people who tried to make Clinton's perjury into a bland lie about sex.

Such reasoning finds an especially receptive audience at meetings of the fanatically anti-immigration California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR).

I would like to see where CCIR has opposed LEGAL immigration.

blames Latino day laborers for the Twin Towers attack.

I would REALLY like to see this claim substantiated.

A Filipina-American, Malkin is best known hereabouts for her opinion column, syndicated for three years in The Orange County Register. But she has won national celebrity for her role as a kind of female Clarence Thomas

The liberal plantation mindset.

But Malkin proceeded to mock these same "good" immigrants—because as a good minority, she can. She told jokes about Ethiopians and—in the interests of equal time—a similar howler about a Swede.

Mercuria, what exactly were the jokes told, and in what context?

Having built her rapport with the audience on a foundation of ethnic jokes and terror,

Having built this article on a foundation of inneundo, bias and lies...

Michelle would probably think of herself as an American, plain and simple.

But leave it to a leftist Rat puke to thrown out every racist ephitet he can think of. Heck, I'm surprised he didn't call her "Uncle Won Tom" or something similar.

This guy (is he a "Latino activist"?) deserves to be slapped silly as an unrepentant racist.

Is there a way to contact this walking, talking Anus Gustavo Arellano?

What doesn't this idiot understand about:
1. Laws
2. International borders
3. The English language....someone needs to buy this moron a dictionary. An illegal trespasser is not an "immigrant". The word immigrant implies the person who is immigrating is or has done so legally. The word immigrant cannot be used in the context of this article.

I can't understand why the GOP are acting like such spineless a$$ kissers.

Are we or are we NOT a nation of laws?

Are these laws being selectively enforced? Yes.

Is GWB turning a blind eye to this problem, hoping it will "go away"? Obviously.

Are the patriotic and brave citizens who are forming citizen militias doing so in the spirit of "homeland security"?

It sure seems that way to me.
