Kuwait Calls Saddams Apology A Clear Call For War

KUN0057 4 GEN 0240 KUWAIT /KUNA-IME2 POL-KUWAIT-IRAQ-ADDRESS Al-Sager: Iraqi President's letter apparent threat for countries in the region

KUWAIT, Dec 8 (KUNA) -- Head of the National Assembly's Foreign Affairs Committee MP Mohammed AL-Sager said the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's letter is an apparent threat not only for Kuwait but also for all countries in the region without exception, proving that the Iraqi regime still represents an element of instability in the region. In a press statement, Al-Sager said the timing of the letter directed to the Kuwaiti people coincided with submitting a report on the weapons of mass destruction, to divert the Arab and Iraqi people's attention by this step taken under international pressure. Al-Sager also described the letter as a mistake in a series of deadly mistakes and miscalculations, and a clear call for war threatening all the Gulf countries. This apology would bring the region back to square number 1, he said. The first part of the letter highlights new justifications for the invasion crime and contradicts with reality, history and even with Saddam Hussein's previous false justifications for the past aggression, he added. "In 1989, there were no U.S. forces in Kuwait conducting manoeuvres led by Schwartzkopf, the Head of the regime himself offered the highest Iraqi Order to H.H. the Amir indicating the depth of the relations between the two countries..," he elaborated. Saddams "apology" is provocative in calling for the "people" of Kuwait to rise up and oust the "infidel" American troops and rebel against the Kuwait government. Looks like he just lost any Arab support he might have previously enjoyed. One would think that the incitement of war might constitute a "Material Breach"

Awesome, now let's kill that guy all ready!

What's it going to take for the UN to say "Materials breah! Ok , US, take care of them because we don't want to!"

Is it going to be when Iraq invades Kuwait or somewhere else? Is it going to be when Iraq fianlly shoots an American jet down? Is it going to be when after ignoring mustard gas filled artillery shells they finally find a nuclear warhead (but oh wait thet's dual use for industry)?

When I heard more about this letter .. it seemed to me more like a threat to attack Kuwait if they didn't back down and kick US Troops out ..

If I understand correctly Saddam said the reason he invaded Kuwait was because of the US build up on Kuwaiti soil before the invasion.

There was no US buildup of Troops in Kuwait before Saddam attacked them .. but there are US Troops now

What a frightfully stupid move by Saddam, who (like other dictators) has no one in his circle who'll dare say, "I don't think you should do this."

Kuwaitis urged to expel 'infidels'

Saddam apologizes for invasion of Kuwait

For example: "Comrade Stalin, perhaps shooting most of your generals is rather unwise."

TO SADDAM (and his sympathizers/supporters/fellow travelers):

Here is the fate that awaits you. SURRENDER NOW!

Fellow Traveler on the Highway of Death

"Highway of Death," the road from Mutlaa, Kuwait, to Basra, Iraq. U.S. planes immobilized the convoy by disabling vehicles at its front and rear, then bombing and strafing the resulting traffic jam for hours. More than 2,000 vehicles and tens of thousands of charred and dismembered bodies littered the sixty miles of highway.

I haven't read the text of the letter, so I'm not sure why the Kuwaiti official is saying this.

But anything that firms up arab support for the US is certainly welcome.

We apologize to God for any deed which might have angered Him and ... we apologize to you as well on this basis,” he said in a speech read out on his behalf on state television by Information Minister Mohammad Said Al-Sahhaf.

“We regret all that happened to you as a result of the position you took” in the run-up to the invasion, Saddam told the Kuwaiti people, slamming their leaders for pushing down the price of oil from 21 to seven dollars a barrel by “drowning the oil market” at the time.

Referring to the presence of US troops, Saddam said Kuwait was under “direct foreign military occupation” and went on to hail “devout youth who carry arms against the occupier” — an apparent reference to Kuwaiti militants who recently attacked US forces in Kuwait. He urged the Kuwaiti people to join Iraq in resisting the occupation of foreign forces. Kuwaiti lawmakers and observers ridiculed Saddam’s speech to the Kuwaiti people saying it was provocative and threatened the emirate’s leaders.

What's it going to take for the UN to say "Materials breach! Ok , US, take care of them because we don't want to!" You know from watching the circus that the U.N. doesn't work that way and will continue to follow the appeasement and postment strategy that allows for despotic megalomaniacs to built their arsenals until they have blackmail capabilities. We will eventually have to do what we know must be done and the U.N. be damned.

I firmly believe the Iraqi people are just waiting to see that we are not the same nation now that we were under the deginerate and his administration who came before. That Al Goreghoul is getting air time on the alphabet networks tells me our media is working for the U.N. strategy by supporting the democrat lies and spin. Gore actually stated this morning that 'no evidence of a Saddam connection to terrorist acts agaionst this nation exists' ... even my democrat diehard 85 years old mother jumped on that lie, citing what she remembers hearing following 9/11 and the 1993 Iraqi failed effort to fell the WTC with their bomb in the parking garage!

Kuwait was treated a lot better by the infidel (the USA in 1990-1991) than they were by Saddam. America didn't rape, torture, and murder their people. America didn't adopt a scorched earth policy when leaving, which resulted in billions of dollars in theft, damaged infrastructure, and burning oil wells.

Not only were there no troops in Kuwait we were a lot less involved" in the middles east as a whole ( as numerous post 9-11 inquires has proven) but thank to one osama bin laden the US will now and forever be involved in the middle east overtly and covertly for many many many years.

Fox News is reporting Saddem is arming the Iraqis to prepare for war with the US

Something tells me .. if true, that is a dumb move .. my understanding is most of the Iraqis can't wait to see Saddem go

Here is the fate that awaits you. SURRENDER NOW!

Heck, I'd be willing to pony up $20 for a clandestine airdrop of pamphlets
with that image to be dropped on Baghdad and throughout Saddam-controlled Iraq.

I think a better additional caption would be
"He believed in Saddam."

I am convinced that we are not waiting on the UN or anyone else for the timing of our attack. We are waiting until we have all our assets in place and then we will prosecute the war.

IMHO, the UN is providing us with the time we need anyway to get ready.

He had an interesting way of apologising. What struck me most forcibly is that, although the apology was said to be from him, he didn't deliver it. Instead, he had one of his paid mouthpieces do it on his behalf. Hardly a sincere gesture.

Maybe he did this so he could later deny he said it?

“We regret all that happened to you as a result of the position you took”

Unmistakable proof that Saddam is a malignant sociopath.

Of course it was evident before, but here we have the utterance that literally defines "pathology," and its subcategory "narcissism."
