Why do the Syrian elite hate America? Interview with Syrian businessman Jalal Dib
USCFL ^ | december 2002 | Bill Johnson

Posted on 12/07/2002 1:49:05 PM PST by pitinkie

Could you describe yourself and your family?

I am from a Muslim family in Syria. I have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Syria and I have been living in the Detroit metropolitan area for thirty years now. I am not planning to go back to Syria anytime soon though I still have family out there including my parents and a few cousins.

Why did you come to the United States?

I came to the US to learn how business is conducted the American way and I can frankly say this country has been real good to me. What I achieved in here could have never been achieved in Syria and I hope to provide the same opportunity to my five children. It is also known in Syria that the United States provides the best quality of education in the world.

What do the Syrian elite think about the United States?

Most people in my country; and more particularly the Syrian intellectual elite, strongly disagree with America's policy in the Middle East, especially concerning Israel. We believe that America's support of Israel has hindered and damaged its relationship with Arab countries. Besides, we don’t like the fact that America is controlled by the Jews.

America controlled by the Jews?

Yes, Jews are conniving individuals who dominate the globe and control the world economy. They can never be trusted. They start wars, create economic crises and always get away with it while the world is sucked right into it.

How do the Jews dominate the world? I thought we dominated the world; America.

They rule the world through America’s economic and military power of course. Look at the US led War preparation against Iraq for example; it is all a Jewish manipulated propaganda to put Iraq out of business and totally contain Saudi Arabia, and by the same token Syria; Israel’s fiercest enemy.

But I thought Alan Greenspan, Steven Spielberg, Michael Bloomberg and the likes were good for America and the world; they are big contributors to society. So what if they are Jewish?

Jews work as lobbies and pressure groups, they operate as a unit. That’s their conspiracy. They are free masons who control vital business sectors spreading Zionist power.

Free masons? What do you mean?

Free masons are successful businessmen, religious leaders and politicians who operate secretly for the cause of promoting CIA interests in the world; and through the CIA, they serve Zionism too.

What do you think of President George W. Bush?

Bush is a pawn in the hands of the “Jewish intelligentsia”. I guess he will soon realize that the Syrians are not the Iraqis and that he will soon have to change his policy in the Middle East if he wants anything achieved out there.

What do you think of President Bashar Assad?

President Assad is a very shrewd individual who is completely in line with the Ba’athist regime ideology. He has Bush around his little finger and both Iran and Saudi Arabia backing him in a major way; the former with political might and the latter with money. So as long as the US is in good terms with the Saudis; Syria has nothing to worry about and will find a way, sooner or later, to discredit the Jewish state; both in the eyes of the Arabs along with those of the world.

How do you feel about Hizballah and Hamas?

Hizballah and Hamas are valiant soldiers fighting for a very noble cause. They are fighting for control of the world by the Jews. Though they may not yet be at par with Israel from a military point of view, their determination to crush the Jewish state is at an all point high and I believe they will succeed.

So how do you think we will ever achieve peace in the Near East; if this is within the realms of possibilities?

I don’t see this happening at all unless the US changes its foreign policy towards the Arab world and unless Israel bows to Syrian demands. Syria is the heart of Arabism. We have 5,000 years of history while Israel’s history is only 50 years old and the US a couple of hundred. So it is neither Israel nor the US who are going to teach us how to survive. Besides, any attack on Syria is an attack on the whole Arab world.

Do you have suggestions for improving the relationship between Americans and Muslims?

This is a wrong statement; it should be the relationship between America and countries in the Middle East. There are Muslim people in the United States as well. To improve the relationship with countries in the Middle East, the U.S. needs to change its foreign policy. The United States should think about why people in the Middle East are not against the governments of Germany, France or China.

Are you sure Mr. Dib you would like us to publish this interview "verbatim"?

Please do Mr. Johnson. It is time for the world to know how we Syrians really think. Thank you.

Sounds like a good Syrian, 5,000 year history, Israel only 50 ?huh? Just because they had no homeland, doesn't mean they didn't have a history.

Do you have suggestions for improving the relationship between Americans and Muslims? We must be more like them. Use the left hand instead of toilet paper.

If I were the President, after a successful defanging of the "butcher of Baghdad", I would redeploy 5 carrier groups into the eastern Mediterranean and give that tinhorn no-chin Bashir Assad 60 days to completely withdraw from Lebanon.

Most elite leaders from 3rd world countries hate America because in their countries they are kings and have amazing power. The cast system still in place in some countries in amazing. Here they are treated like everyone else, a number.

I wish they would make up their minds. Then, he said it was the Freemasons. Or the Illuminati. Or (fnord) something.

Ah, maybe that's what Bush means by "the religion of peace" they are so merciful towards the trees. Funny, they have no qualms about blowing up women and children, but ya gotta admit that use of the left hand does wonders for the eco system.

Thirty years in America, and he still can't be trusted not to commit treason if he gets the chance. All too typical of Arab and Islamic emigres, it seems.

The backstairs nutjob literature of late 19th century, early 20th century European extremism, is the whole political thought of the modern Arab political class. It is so crazy it is sometimes hard to credit it, but it is what is really going on. Arendt in "Origins of Totalitarianism" is the only writer I know of who has really given the phenomenon its due. Everybody else basically averts their gaze; unable to respond with anything but sputtering or slang, we just shut up instead.

The fact itself has to be squarely faced. Enourmous numbers of average people believe that fairy tales so preposterous healthy seven year olds laugh outright on hearing them, are the inner secret of all history. Which is indeed an "outrage to common sense", but is nevertheless true.

Well, I would think they would be gratified and comforted to know that the Lodges are dying, having trouble attracting new membership.

So it must really have been the Council on Foriegn Relations all along!

(You can tell by the crop circles.)

Hates Jews,eh? This idiot couldnt give a real reason he hates them.

He'd never trust anyone who can read and write and knows about bathing and has a 4,000 year old culture, and doesn't worship a made-up psycho of a murdering pervert for a "god".

Bet that would do it!
