A seven-month investigation of Ron McKeown, the former executive director of the local Red Cross chapter (New London, Connecticut), came to a head Wednesday morning when he was arrested and charged with embezzling more than $120,000, much of it collected in the wake of the Sept. 11 terror attacks.
