Hillary's Private Eye Arrested in Reporter Intimidation Case

A California private detective who worked to discredit Clinton Sexgate accusers Monica Lewinsky and Gennifer Flowers has been arrested in connection with attempts to intimidate a reporter for the Los Angeles Times after the FBI caught him with an arsenal of explosives.

Anthony J. Pellicano was arrested Thursday after a search of his office by a dozen FBI agents turned up an "array of explosives," reported New York's Daily News on Saturday.

"Agents seized plastic explosives, detonating cord, blasting caps and two handguns," the paper said.

Pellicano's stash of explosives "could be used to bring down a plane or blow up a car," an FBI agent said.

In addition, the safe in Pellicano's Sunset Boulevard Office contained 15 to 20 bundles of cash, "the majority of which bore $10,000 wrappers," according to the Los Angeles Times.

In February, New York Sen. Hillary Clinton was alleged to have hired Pellicano in 1992 in an attempt to discredit Gennifer Flowers' claims of a twelve year affair with Mr. Clinton.

Pellicano's office was searched Thursday after ex-con Alexander Proctor told police that the Clinton-connected detective had paid him $10,000 to intimidate Los Angeles Times reporter Anita Busch into stopping an investigation into a Mafia extortion plot against actor Steven Seagal.

According to Proctor, Seagal hired Pellicano, who in-turn subcontracted the job to him.

Federal prosecutors allege that Proctor broke the windshield of Busch's car and left a dead fish on the front seat. The fish had a single long-stemmed red rose in its mouth, with a sign placed nearby that read simply, "Stop."

The episode bears an eerie resemblance to the account of Clinton sex-accuser Sally Perdue, who told the London Telegraph in 1994 that after she was threatened with physical violence, her car windshield was broken and spent shotgun shell was left on the seat. Perdue abruptly relocated to China a few months after talking to the Telegraph, shortly after Paula Jones sued Mr. Clinton for sexual harassment.

Though Pellicano's name never surfaced in connection with Perdue's allegations, he reportedly played a key role in attempts to discredit both Monica Lewinsky and Gennifer Flowers.

Four days after the Lewinsky story broke in Jan. 1998, ex-Lewinsky boyfriend Andy Bleiler came forward with the claim that she had stalked him. The Washington state school teacher also contended that Lewinsky wanted to become a White House intern so she could perform oral sex on then-President Clinton.

"I'm going to Washington to get my presidential knee pads," Bleiler's lawyer, Terry Giles, quoted Lewinsky as saying.

"Anthony Pellicano, the L.A.-based private investigator and O.J. defense team veteran [was] responsible for digging up Andy Bleiler," the New York Post's Andrea Peyser reported days later. Sexgate provocatuer Lucianne Goldberg told Peyser that Pellicano's services were bought and paid for by the Clinton White House.

When Peyser confronted the Los Angeles private detective with Goldberg's claim, he didn't deny it. "You're a smart girl. No comment," Pellicano told the Post reporter.

Digging up Bleiler's "presidential kneepads" story wasn't the first time Pellicano had gone to bat for the Clintons.

According to Ron Kessler's 1995 best-seller, "Inside the White House," Clinton's first presidential campaign relied on Pellicano's expertise in the field of audio analysis to discredit Gennifer Flowers' smoking gun tapes.

"The Clinton camp made much of the fact that Anthony J. Pellicano, an expert on audio recording analysis, had told the press that a twelve-minute portion of the tape of conversations between Flowers and Clinton had been 'selectively edited' at two points," Kessler reported.

To counter Pellicano's claims, Flowers submitted her recordings to Truth Verification Labs, which found them to be 100 percent authentic.

In 1999 Flowers filed a defamation suit against Clinton campaign officials James Carville and George Stephanopoulos - along with then-first lady Hillary Clinton - based on their attempts to use Pellicano's analysis to discredit her.

During a February court appearance, the head of Flowers' legal team, Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman, told the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, "Anthony Pellicano was a private investigator hired by Mrs. Clinton herself. And he's the one who did the analysis of the tapes."

Of the more than two dozen media reports on Pellicano's Thursday arrest so far, none have mentioned his ties to the Clinton attack machine.

NATHAN LANDOW (see above) reportedly hired private detective

HILLARY CLINTON, wife of Bill Clinton, says there is a "vast
right-wing conspiracy" working to undermine the presidency of her
husband. Her "pit bull" is reportedly Sidney Blumenthal, who
will soon testify in the Clinton impeachment trial. Blumenthal,
a.k.a. "Sid Vicious," may be about to play a John Dean-like role
and betray Bill Clinton, according to Sherman Skolnick. Hillary
is in a scorpionic fury due to recent humiliations, and
Blumenthal, her agent, may be about to exact revenge. Hillary is
on the march, but in whose name does she ride?

Sidney Blumenthal may be teamed with White House hot-shot RAHM
EMMANUEL. "Rahm the gate-keeper could verify Monica's
appointments. He ties in with the Monica-Mossad theory -- 'you
set me up.' There is the Hillary axis, with Sidney Blumenthal,
[and Robert] Strauss mentor to Vernon Jordan." [7]

VERNON JORDAN, testifying in the Clinton impeachment trial, may
be "the weakest link in the chain of allies protecting [Bill
Clinton] before the Senate." [8] "Ru Mills" received an urgent,
terse fax from one of her deep sources: "Watch Strauss," was all
it said. ROBERT STRAUSS, very big in the Democratic Party, was
immediately seen in intense conversation with Vernon Jordan.
Jordan is a senior law partner in the firm, Akin, Gump, headed by
Robert Strauss.

JAMES CARVILLE is Bill Clinton's "pit bull." He is linked to
LARRY FLYNT, publisher of Hustler magazine. Flynt may be the
front man for leaks, damaging to Republicans, coming from secret
FBI files held by the White House. Carville works to undermine
the re-election hopes of BENJAMIN NETANYAHU, prime minister of
Israel. Bill Clinton and "Bibi" Netanyahu are at odds. A recent
series of burglaries at the Washington office of Carville
associate STAN GREENBERG may have been retaliation, done by
Netanyahu's forces. Alternatively, according to a knowledgeable
Israeli journalist, the Greenberg burglaries may have been
initiated by the Clinton team themselves, in order to embarrass
Netanyahu.

Flowers reacted to Clinton's "60 Minutes" appearance by releasing her now famous tapes to prove the relationship. But even the smoking gun recordings didn't stop Stephanopoulos and Carville, who charged that Flowers' tapes had been doctored. To back up the charge, the Clinton gang retained Los Angeles private detective Anthony Pellicano, who produced an audio analysis which Stephanopoulos and Carville touted as evidence that Flowers' tapes had been edited.

The Clinton spin on Flowers' "doctored" tapes was widely circulated by the mainstream media. Pellicano came in handy again during the Monica Lewinsky scandal, when he unearthed Lewinsky's former boyfriend, Andy Blieler. In a nationally televised press conference, Blieler alleged that the intern had once told him she wanted to "go to Washington to earn my presidential kneepads."

…..Flowers submitted her tapes for independent analysis by Truth Verification Labs, which found that they had not been tampered with in any way. Still, as late as February 1998, weeks after the Monica Lewinsky scandal broke, Stephanopoulos was still publicly claiming that Flowers' tapes had been doctored….."

A convicted check forger, John Dunton, reports to police that a private investigator witnessed the murders of Ron and Nicole. He refuses to repeat the story in front of the Grand Jury, for fear of his life, and is jailed for contempt. In any investigation, people make strange assertions; some even repeatedly confess to crimes. Dunton does not confess, or claim he is a witness, or that a private investigator committed the murders, but that a private investigator is a witness to the murders, a strange assertion indeed.

Then, Anthony Pellicano, famed private investigator to the stars, without being named as the witness in question, issues a statement and denies he was the one who saw the murders. Pellicano occasionally works for Michael Jackson and one time performed a task for the Scientoligists, wherein he delivered information to the CBS show "Sixty Minutes" for an expose on Werner Erhard, the founder of EST, with whom Scientology has had a long-standing feud.

While Kendall argued that Judicial Watch had abandoned earlier claims that Mrs. Clinton was part of a conspiracy to defame Flowers, Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman said that wasn't true, telling the court:

"One of the people who did the analysis, Anthony Pellicano, was a private investigator hired by Mrs. Clinton herself. And he's the one who did the analysis of the tapes."

Pellicano's findings that Flowers' tapes might have been tampered with were widely reported by CNN and other media outlets in 1992. (The California-based private eye later turned up in the midst of the Monica Lewinsky scandal, where he produced a former boyfriend who claimed Lewinsky once told him, "I'm going to Washington to get my presidential kneepads.")

Flowers subsequently submitted her tapes to Truth Verification Labs, which certified them as 100 percent authentic.

MICHAEL CARDOZO owns an estate in eastern Maryland. Cardozo
heads BILL CLINTON'S legal defense team. Cardozo is the
son-in-law of NATHAN LANDOW. Landow raises big bucks for the
Democrats. On the weekend of July 17-18, 1993, Cardozo/Landow
are visited by VINCE FOSTER, WEBSTER HUBBELL, and (reportedly)
GEORGE STEPHANOPOLOUS. [1] A few days later, Vince Foster is
found dead under mysterious circumstances.

Working for the Clinton team is a private detective, ANTHONY
PELLICANO. He is part of what former Clinton team player DICK
MORRIS has called "The White House Secret Police." Pellicano
once worked for the O.J. SIMPSON defense team. [2] In the past,
Simpson has gone golfing with Bill Clinton.

LUCIANNE GOLDBERG revealed to Andrea Peyser, a reporter with the
New York Post, that one "Anthony Pellicano" was "responsible for
digging up Andy Bleiler." [3] Bleiler was the former teacher of
MONICA LEWINSKY who suggested that Lewinsky might be a "stalker."

This Rat is in deep doo-doo.

Given what Pellicano knows, I think he has an excellent chance of being able to strike a deal with the feds, if that's what he decides he wants to do.

Has the U.S. Attorney in L.A. been involved in DOJ's investigation into the charges of that guy who donated to the Clintons and then claims to have been betrayed by them? That guy is in Brazil, I think, now, but I think he was in Hollywood before he fled the country.

U.S. Senate hopeful Rick Lazio alleged yesterday that his opponent Hillary Clinton hired a private investigator to dig up dirt on him as soon as he announced he would run against her.

The New York congressman said the development is an indication of the kind of dirty tricks campaign he expects Mrs. Clinton to wage in her bid for elected office.

Speaking to WABC radio's Sean Hannity Wednesday afternoon, Lazio revealed the Clinton campaign shocker:

"The first day, the first day that I got out of the box, they had an investigator with a camera following me around everywhere we went upstate. So that's the kind of tactics that we're up against."

The Clintons are notorious for hiring private investigators to go after opponents, enemies, witnesses or anyone else they perceive as a personal or political threat.

In 1992 the Clinton presidential campaign paid San Francisco gumshoe Jack Palladino $100,000 from its campaign kitty to help silence a number of women who staffers believed might claim affairs with the candidate.

According to longtime Clinton insider Dick Morris, Mrs. Clinton is behind the White House's "Secret Police" operations. Morris also claims that PI's like Palladino were bankrolled with taxpayer subsidized federal election matching funds.

Last year one-time Clinton mistress Gennifer Flowers told a New York talk radio audience that Palladino went around asking all her friends, "Is Gennifer the type to commit suicide?"

Though Lazio did not identify the Clinton investigator by name, other known Clinton dirt diggers include investigators Terry Lenzner, Anthony Pellicano and Democratic operative Ron Tucker.

With her husband in the White House, Mrs. Clinton's Lazio scandal patrol can rely on powerful elected Democrats to do her dirty work. On Monday New York State Comptroller Carl McCall wrote to the Securities and Exchange Commission requesting a probe of Lazio's investments.

Lazio told Hannity that the Clinton campaign turned sharply negative after several polls showed him in a dead heat with the first lady.

More than likely, bringing Lenzner into the White House fold was also Hillary's idea. She and Lenzner go way back. They worked on the Watergate hearings. They also served on the board of Legal Services Corp. and have a mutual friend in Mickey Kantor, another Legal Services veteran...."

Rumor had it vince was down-way low. I had always assumed it was because he is the man who, via domestic diva hillary, reportedly gave the word to then acting Attorney General, webby boy, to END the standoff at WACO. That perhaps vince could not stand to live with himself, knowing how the families died such a torturous death at the hands of our own ATF, BATF and FBI.

Was vince considered unstable enough to spill way to many beans about the horrendous duo and their nefarious and ugly MO? Time will tell, I hope.

The PR counteroffensive swelled -- and resonated. Instead of dipping, Clinton's approval ratings began to climb. Behind the scenes, Clinton's counterintelligence operation swung into action.

Clinton's lawyers have used all means to try to find out what is on Linda Tripp's tapes. Shortly after the scandal broke, Lucianne Goldberg was in her office in New York when, she says, she got a call from David Kendall, Clinton's lawyer on Whitewater matters. Goldberg and Kendall are old acquaintances; as a lawyer for the National Enquirer, Kendall had vetted for libel a book excerpt by one of Goldberg's authors. Kendall, a gentlemanly lawyer, politely asked Goldberg if he could send someone by her New York apartment to pick up her tapes of her conversations with Linda Tripp. Goldberg was furious. A few days earlier, one of her famous clients had already been approached by Anthony Pellicano, a flamboyant detective who had been involved in the O. J. Simpson case, seeking information about the tapes.

The detective had said that he was "working for Clinton." (Asked by NEWSWEEK if he was, in fact, working for Clinton, Pellicano, a well-known P.I., replied, "I have no comment.") Goldberg exploded at Kendall, accusing him of deploying private detectives and "sliming" her to reporters around the country as a right-wing kook.

If Kendall wanted the tapes, he could try to subpoena them, Goldberg said. "A subpoena has such an unfortunate connotation," replied Kendall soothingly. But Goldberg was just getting worked up. You don't want to listen to the tapes, she told Clinton's lawyer; they would just "make you sick to your stomach." What's more, she added, "when we're finished with this conversation, I'm going to have a tape of my conversation with you." Kendall said he was sorry she felt that way and hung up.

The Clinton White House has its agents scouring
the country digging up dirt on the 24-year-old girl who made
claims of a sexual involvement with Bill Clinton.

investigator Anthony Pellicano, whose last claim to Clinton
damage control fame was his "scientific determination" that the
Gennifer Flowers tapes had been edited. (An independent
laboratory analysis later confirmed their unedited authenticity)
Now Pellicano has resurrected Monica Lewinsky's old drama coach,
who did his own Gennifer Flowers number on her just minutes
before Clinton's State of the Union Address. Before this is over
look for team Clinton to conjure up enough alleged Lewinsky ex-
lovers to make Mae West look like Mother Theresa.
