Frenchman makes anti-U.S. cola to aid Palestinians

PARIS (Reuters) - A French Muslim businessman has turned the American drink cola into a product that protests U.S. foreign policy and raises money for Palestinian causes.

"Be engaged! Drink Mecca Cola", reads the slogan on the bottles which Taoufik Mathlouthi begun producing in time for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

"This is a rejection of American policy," Mathlouthi, originally from Tunisia, told Reuters. "This cola is to help Palestinians."

Ten percent of profits from the fizzy drink will go to Palestinian causes, such as schools.

The cola went on sale in France, Belgium and Germany on November 1. Muslims fast during daylight hours throughout Ramadan, which began on Wednesday, but are allowed to eat and drink at night.

Mathlouthi, 46, said he originally expected to sell 300,000 bottles of Mecca Cola this month. But he says he already has orders for more than two million, including from Americans.

"In the United States we have an order from Americans who have nothing to do with Islam," Mathlouthi said.

Imagine how good sales will be when targets in those country are attacked.

I've been thinking about introducing the Mecca brand line of Pork Products.

The orders from Americans who aren't muslim are probably from some guys who want to buy Mecca Cola and sell it as a curiosity item on ebay. Anyone else who buys Mecca Cola in the US or Europe would be a good target for investigation by the authorities, since their buying it shows that they're probably enthusiastic Islamists and who knows what else!

How about some "Death to Islam" cola here? All profits would go to bombs for Saddam and Saudi's.

But will the cola taste like camel spit and have rocks at the bottom, in case consumers feel like tossing a few?
