MSNBC lists a press conference by John Thune on their Live Video page. I expect MSNBC cable to carry it as well.

Said Native American vote put Johnson over the top. Turnout was higher than expected on the reservations.I also saw an article saying that a large number of ballots had been forged, then burned, then re-forged. (On a reservation). What's that about?

I am supposed to believe that the people in this county are twice as passionate about the 2002 junior senator's race than the 2000 election for President.
No wonder Shannon County was the last to report its results.

Are you sure?
Seems Wounded Knee was well towards the end of the North Plains Indian Wars, and Harrison was elected based on the Northwest territory (1812-1825) Indian Wars results ....
"Tippicanoe and Tyler too" was the slogan from those fights - Tyler being the VP candidate.

Turnout was higher than expected on the reservations.Like Philadelphia in 2000? Turnout somewhere in the region of 110%?

"Is there any way to find a breakdown of registered voters by party breakdown for Shannon County? If so, Republican bigwigs would have a list of Republican voters, they should start calling each and every Republican who cast a vote to see if they voted for Thune."
Someone on the ground would have to examine the voter lists, and I'm sure the local GOP has the lists anyway. I'd expect they are in the process of doing exactly as you described. If they can prove that the vote is sufficiently tainted in that county, they ought to be able to get the returns from that county thrown out (easiest) or retabulated (harder). This doesn't "disenfranchise" the voters there because their (apparently) stolen votes are actually being used against them right now and tossing them out gives them the result they intended.

If so, Republican bigwigs would have a list of Republican voters, they should start calling each and every Republican who cast a vote to see if they voted for Thune. Then get them to sign an affidavit stating that. If there are more than 248, you know there was fraud. Keep getting affadavits until you have contacted every Thune voter. Damn straight!

Wrong Harrison.
Anyway, it was Cleveland (D) who served on either side of Harrison (R) who was the well-known Indian-Hater.
To: eniapmot
Yes, you're right - Thanks.
Harrison admin was 1889-1893, Wounded Knee was 12-29-1890, a llittle over a year after he was elected.
By the way, I figured out WHY the Indians thought they can register and vote from the grave this time:
It all has to do with the Wounded Knee "Ghost dance" legend that helped incite the latest fighting:
"Wovoka called himself the Messiah and prophesied that the dead would soon join the living in a world in which the Indians could live in the old way surrounded by plentiful game. A tidal wave of new soil would cover the earth, bury the whites, and restore the prairie. To hasten the event, the Indians were to dance the Ghost Dance...."
Why else?
...The dead on the reservation rejoined the living as they registered and voted democratic in 2002, then the wave of new soil (Clinton's and Dasshole's waste products) swept down across the prairie .....

Are these numbers accurate? Do you have a source for this data? If we assume that you are correct, then it seemslike there was some sort of malfunction in counting the votes.
Does anyone know the type of ballots used in this county? Are they paper, electronic?
Also, does anyone know if they can go back and verify the eligibility of voters during a recount?
Something seems very wrong with these numbers.

By numbers alone, I'd suspect at least 800 illegal votesWow! Thanks for this great info! Agreed, if the Dem vote count has somehow doubled since the 2000 election or any previous elections, with Rep vote counts staying comparable, something is wrong with this picture. Very wrong. This is vey series! Go Thune!!!

I don't know if we can get Thune into the Senate or not (we need to try) but at the least I want to see some demons doing the perp walk over this. AND go to prison for a significant length of time. This has to stop and the only way to stop it is to let them know that gaming the system is not worth it.
For Pete's sake, people go to prison for rigging a lousy college football game, why wouldn't they for this?????

"Let's see -- who was President when Wounded Knee took place?

The local Republican Party in Shannon County?
Are you kidding? Have you ever seen Dances with Wolves? It was filmed in this area.
And remember, these folks have their own "nation."
Let's face it. The Repubs have been "buffaloed."
