BILL SIMON ON OLVERA STREET: ONE HOT GOP TAMALE!
Cinnamon Girl

Posted on 11/03/2002 5:53:03 PM PST by Cinnamon Girl

It was a great day for a FREEP! As the campaign approaches the big day, Bill Simon is looking good and sounding better than ever. With freepers RonDog, daviddennis, Palo, Tony from Hawaii, and others gathered at the historic Olvera Street (which is like a Latin shuk) Bill Simon and the GOP ticket took the stage after a great performance by the Bill Simon Band, and urged everyone to GET OUT THERE AND VOTE ON TUESDAY.

Lots of t.v. cameras and news reporters were present. (I'm sure I'm not the only one who was interviewed by the AP.) RonDog, dressed in a shirt and pants, was working the crowd--

And let's all take a moment to give it up for Ron, who has been getting the word out about pro-Simon rallies, and anti-Davis rallies, and really giving it his all so our man could win. YEAY, RONDOG!!!

Pictures will be posted shortly, I hear. Thanks to everyone on FR for all your hard work for all the GOP candidates.

Do I believe Bill Simon can win?

YES. If we all do our part and call at least our friends and family who vote Republican.

TIPS FOR CHICKS:

As is my tradition, I will be filling out my sample ballot and giving it to all my girlfriends so they know how to vote (sorry, chicks, but you know how it is.) And I'll be offering to watch my friends' kids if need be so they can take a moment to vote. And for any of my friends from NY who still haven't learned how to drive, I'll offer to take them to the polls.

Isn't Rondog one heck of a great freeper? He has worked long and hard for Simon this campaign, and I want him to know how much we all appreciate him!

What was the turnout today?

There were between 700 and 800 enthusiastic supporters at the one in San Diego this morning!

It aint over till it's over. Ask the Giants who were ready to pop open those champagne bottles last Saturday night how what seemed like a sure win turned out to be a loss. Never hurts to keep ones hopes up, the Angels showed us that you don't just give up because it looks hopeless.

It's not about outnumbering all the voting Dems, Semper. It's about outnumbering the Dems who bother to go and vote for Joe Davis on Tuesday. If it wasn't close, Davis would be fundraising for his next election instead of running around all sweaty, trying to drum up more buses and cigarettes for his would be supporters.

Thanks for the post! It was fun, wasn't it?

Could you imagine Gray Davis dancing like that?

Me neither.

Awesome! I used to live in Southern California (Jane Harmon's district, ewww), and I loved hanging out on Olvera Street. Even if Simon loses on Tuesday, by trying to make inroads in the Hispanic community he's helping the cause.
