They must have hired the production designer from the movie Brazil...this looks idenitical to the posters that are plastered up all over that film.
To: Timesink

Yep, now anyone who dares to defend himself from attack or to use offensive speech can be promptly apprehended and prosecuted.

Yes, scary but predictable. From my post on an earlier thread:
An unarmed citizenry is potentially the victim, first of anarchy, then of tyranny and totalitarianism."
"Much as we are witnessing in merry old England. The Brits are in the middle stages of this trilogy and it only took the last three of four years to go from relative freedom and safety to near full-blown anarchy. Not so long ago, gun crime really was rare in Britain; the cop on the beat did not normally even carry a gun."
"Now, after the passage of some very bad, Draconian Victim Disarmament laws, cops are armed to the teeth but completely unable to stem the tide of rising violence or even to remove firearms from increasing black market sales."
"One or two years down the road, and the transformation of England to a full police state will be complete. The remarkable thing is just how fast this can happen. Australia is also on that same "path" as Mr. Howard put it, only a little behind."
"Of course, in the the US there is still time to see the truth; the only question is whether the politicians and the jerks who put the wrong ones in office are willing to see it or will instead opt to put us on the same road."

Eric Blair was not a writer, he was a prophet.

If they look to be succeeding, rest assured they will all get whacked. Americans are NOT teabags.

What irony. Orwell's Oceania was, of course, Britian.

*sigh* It's sad how quickly items lose interest during the election mess...

If Orwell were to be resurrected by medical science, I bet it wouldn't be long before he'd ask to be put back in the grave. That is freaking frightening. The worst part is so many people here like the cameras. They say it makes them feel safe- I know, I've asked people.

I have to admit, I'd love to have one of the posters for my apartment. It's so postmodern creepy-artistic, and will probably be worth something someday after the overthrow of the British government.

Well, I'll keep that in mind if I ever come across more than one- I'll be keeping the first one for myself of course ;-)

Yet another example that our friends across "the pond" are well on their way to becoming a police-state paradise. And these guys are our allies?? Geez, with friends like that....
